We are currently seeking a high talent, high performance individual to join the Corporate & Institution Banking Continental Europe Business Financial Crime Risk (BFCR) team. The role reports to the HSBC Bank Continental Europe’s Head of BFCR and will predominantly support France, however, it will also include oversight of other HBCE markets.
The role would be well suited to an individual who has strong communications skills and who is able to build rapport through remote engagements, noting the breadth of the geography covered; 12 EU markets that fall within the purview of HSBC Bank Continental Europe (HBCE). Given that the role is supporting France predominantly, the ability to speak French is essential. The ability to manage multiple priorities, have a curious and investigative mindset, and the ability to lead on strategic projects too will be advantageous. Previous frontline or financial crime risk knowledge/exposure is preferable but is not essential; we will consider applicants from a range of technical backgrounds
What you’ll do:
- Support the implementation and embedding of Line of Business Procedures (LoBPs) for respective financial crime risk areas (i.e. AB&C & AML), control management around non-compliance.
- Drive a robust communications strategy supporting the awareness of core financial crime risks including but not limited to AML, Sanctions, and AB&C risks/policies, complimenting development of a compliance culture throughout CIB and in collaboration with other team members.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies, and good market practices, specifically the management of AB&C in line with French / local Regulations.
- Own HSBC France’s financial crime risk controls and complete quarterly control monitoring assessments.
- Have oversight of the HBCE performance on key financial crime risk [Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Controls Indicators (KCIs)].
- Investigate and implement solutions for issues which may adversely affect business performance or business risk, in a timely manner.
- Engage regularly with the business leaders in HBCE, broader Europe (HBEU), and/or other regional counterparts to keep them informed of hot topics and any pressing risks/issues.
- Review and constructively challenge existing policies, procedures and processes to ensure they remain fit for purpose, in conjunction with global and regional counterparts.
What you need to have to succeed in this role:
- The ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in French.
- An understanding of how frontline Relationship Managers operate, including awareness of key systems and tools utilised to conduct their role.
- Be a strong independent contributor, who can work on a self-directed basis and balance multiple diverse priorities.
- Flexibility and adaptability - the role requires management of constantly changing priorities and tasks that are potentially highly restricted in nature, unpredictable, wide ranging, complex and time sensitive.
- Stakeholder considerations - the role requires the highest quality, most succinct output and ability to engage and build rapport with a variety of stakeholders.
- Be prepared to challenge the status quo and actively seek ways to make efficiencies for the frontline.
- Strike the correct balance between commerciality and financial crime risk prevention, employing sound and robust risk based management.
