Enterprise Technology brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC including anti- money laundering, transaction monitoring, screening, risk assessment etc. and is dedicated to implement the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. Engineering Lead role is part of newly formed Finance Treasury IT function that is incrementing its delivery capability with a new development capability in Guangzhou. This team will initially focus on FRM (Financial Resource Management) and Interest Rate Risk (IRR) products in the Treasury Portfolio. The role is tasked with establishing a highly motivated, high value team, aligning to the Finance Treasury IT strategy and engineering excellence standards.  
The Global Social Network Analytics (GSNA) platform uses Big Data technology together with AI and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to identify potential financial crime risks that enable a global network of Investigators, Intelligence Analysts and Data Scientists to conduct effective intelligence-based investigations.  
This role is based at our Global Technology Center in Krakow.
We are a young, fun and relaxed team of over 150 people closely following Agile Scrum framework with Scrum teams based in Poland, China and the UK. We run 2-week sprints with 6-week release cycles. 


What you’ll do
    • As a Software Engineer Lead you will take on a technical leadership role ensuring the alignment of technology solutions with the business objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of both functional and non-functional requirements, IT and business priorities and strong collaboration skills to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and technical excellence.
    • The GSNA project is the next generation of tooling for combatting financial crime. Covering investment banking, commercial banking and retail banking globally. The architecture comprises Hadoop, elastic search microservices, relational databases.

Required skills:
    • Has strong technical expertise in Scala and Big data technologies is essential with Devops and Cloud skills considered as secondary but valuable
    • Cloud experience
    • End to end systems architecture knowledge
    • Participate, lead, host global project requirement meetings and working group.  He / she is expected to sharply identify solution gaps, project risk, issues as well as providing and implementing mitigation plans towards them in timely manner
    • Be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining robust, resilient and high-performance frontend or backend systems
    • Keep up-to-date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable
    • Accountability for delivery – takes ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution with minimal supervision
    • Appetite, enthusiasm and desire to execute change at pace and to an exceptional level of quality
    • Close collaboration with DevOps and Dev Engineers to ensure operational issues are identified and addressed at all stages of a product or service release/change
    • Global coordination: engage with teams both on-site and remotely across the UK and China

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics or a related field
    • Minimum 10 years of development experience
