GTS (Global Trade Solutions) is a key strategic business for the HSBC Group and its history is mixed with almost 150 years of Group history. The Global Trade Solutions Sales Manager role is responsible for generating new business and for initiating and managing business development initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Focused on the CIB (Corporate Institutional Bank) Switzerland client base. Acting as the face of the bank, positioning HSBC as the key GTS provider, establishing new client relationships and strengthening existing ones 
  • Provide ownership in assessing and originating opportunities with clients by developing a strong understanding of and advisory dialogue with this complex client base and ensure we meet their evolving needs on a global basis.
  • Originate, own and drive the execution of new mandates to continuously develop and maximize our GTS franchise within the rapidly growing Switzerland business, notably by ensuring that we provide domestic and cross-border trade products and services to priority/strategic existing and potential clients. 
  • Drive GTS coverage of Swiss clients on a global basis with the aim to maximize our global wallet share. Work closely with the relevant internal stakeholders to drive and continuously optimize the profile and impact of the GTS proposition to Swiss clients. 
  • Assisting in establishing new business relationships and strengthening existing ones, whilst ensuring fair outcomes for all types of customers  
  • Protecting the bank's reputation and ensuring an acceptable risk profile, whilst deepening your understanding of the client through credit and customer due diligence reviews 
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.

In this role you will:

  • Maximizes Managed revenue growth through GTS business development on a global basis for CIB and Inbound clients. Lead the global GTS coverage for a portfolio of Swiss names
  • Develop effective strategies for winning strategic business and maximize our share of GTS wallet especially with prioritized CIB clients by fully understand clients’ priorities and requirements and offering tailored solutions where relevant
  • Manage pipeline of new to trade and existing to trade customers and follow end to end sales process as defined by Business Development Transformation 
  • Promote awareness of GTS products, strategies and competitor information amongst the GRBs and other strategic business communities
  • Maintain awareness of the applicable regulatory and business environment: understand audit, tax and legal implications and changes as they affect, the customers and the Bank
  • Ensure all sales activity documentation is complete to provide performance tracking and targeting future sales efforts
  • Continually assess the Sales processes to identify improvements
  • Keep senior management informed of any obstacles, issues etc
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of global trade finance, services, products and techniques, including working capital solution ( RF and SCF), and traditional trade (Letters of Credit, imp/exp finance) and guarantees is a must
  • Extensive knowledge of the market & market trends, competitive environment, and regulatory environment
  • Detailed knowledge of GTS back and front office area 
  • Detailed knowledge if Credit & Risk including techniques to mitigate Risk
  • Broad knowledge of CMB client base
  • Sales Management experience including a proven sales record
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Trade related industry qualifications             
  • Strong sales, interpersonal, communications, leadership, negotiation, analytical, presentation and decision-making skills
  • Good organisational skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and meet critical deadline
  • Strong commercial orientation combined with a customer driven approach
  • High level of commercial knowledge
  • Ability to interact with C-Suite and senior executives as well as with very sophisticated clients
