We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Head of CIB Client & Sector Marketing.
Role purpose
We are hiring a results-oriented and commercially focused Global Head of Client & Sector Marketing to lead our Corporate and Institutional Banking marketing efforts across priority client segments and industry sectors and with key strategic partners. This senior leadership role is critical to driving revenue growth, deepening client engagement, and enhancing the bank’s relevance with multinational corporates, financial institutions, and public sector clients.
Partnering closely with Relationship Management, Sector Coverage, Product Marketing, and Strategy teams, you will lead the development and execution of insight-led, segment-specific marketing strategies that unlock new business opportunities and accelerate client decision-making across regions.
This is a pivotal role at the intersection of client strategy, marketing, and business development — ideal for a marketing leader who is passionate about connecting industry expertise with client needs to drive commercial results at scale.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Growth Marketing
- Lead the global client and sector marketing strategy for Corporate & Institutional Banking, aligning with commercial growth priorities
- Identify and prioritize marketing opportunities across client segments (e.g., multinational corporates, FIs, sovereigns, asset managers) and sectors (e.g., Industrials, Tech, Healthcare, Energy, Real Estate)
- Shape and execute marketing programs that directly support deal origination, cross-sell, wallet share growth, and strategic client acquisition
- Lead strategic global partnership and ecosystem marketing strategies
Segment & Sector Positioning
- Develop differentiated value propositions that reflect deep knowledge of industry and segment-specific challenges, opportunities, and regulatory environments
- Collaborate with Product & Business Marketing to ensure solution sets are clearly positioned against client needs within each segment and sector
- Build tailored narratives that combine market insights, innovation themes (e.g., infrastructure finance, digitalization, geopolitics), and the bank’s expertise
Campaigns, Content & Events
- Oversee the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive awareness, consideration, and engagement at scale
- Lead the development of targeted thought leadership, digital content, sector reports, client success stories, and high-impact engagement tools
- Partner with events and sponsorship teams to deliver strategic client forums, roundtables, and executive briefings that reinforce sector leadership
Measurement & Insights
- Define and track performance metrics tied to client engagement, pipeline influence, and revenue impact
- Use data and insights to continuously refine segment strategies and campaign effectiveness
- Advocate for the voice of the client in the design and delivery of marketing and go-to-market activities
Leadership & Teamwork
- Lead and develop a global team of sector and client marketers embedded in priority regions and business lines
- Partner closely with Relationship Management, Sector Heads, Product Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Digital teams
- Serve as a senior advisor to internal stakeholders on go-to-market strategy, client engagement, and market positioning
- Lead from the front as an advocate for Agile Principles and drive an Agile way of working in your team and beyond to leverage cross functional expertise
- Lead by example in transparently promoting the organization’s values and delivering in an aligned manner
- Create an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
Functional Knowledge
- Extensive years of B2B marketing experience, with a track record of success in commercial/segment marketing within global banking or institutional financial services
- Proven expertise in turning client and market insights into actionable growth strategies and targeted campaigns
- Deep understanding of institutional client segments, industry dynamics, and financial products (transaction banking, capital markets, structured finance, etc.)
- Strong leadership and influencing skills across global, matrixed organizations
- Experience working directly with Coverage, Sector Heads, and Product teams to drive client-centric growth initiatives
- Exceptional storytelling, communication, and analytical abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred
