We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of DevOps.

 

Business: Wealth & Personal Banking IT

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Accountable for providing tools and processes for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of software
  • Work closely with developers, testers, and system administrators to ensure the entire software development life cycle is smooth, efficient, and error-free
  • Develop accelerated delivery pipeline by embracing automated tools in DevOps environment and collaborating closely with Product Owners
  • Enhanced Developer / Tester experience through seamless adoption of Continuous Testing capability for effective CI/CD
  • Leading and driving a cultural change, to simplfy complex workflows and create efficiencies through elimination of manual tasks to ensure high levels of quality
  • Lead the design, build, and operational management of scalable sites and software for the business
  • Build tools that allow the department to develop and deploy impeccable software and leverage productivity amplifiers
  • Create automated workflow capabilities in order to enable the business’ software engineering teams to test and promote code across the engineering department
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in GenAI, analytics, and DevOps, ensuring HSBC remains at the forefront of innovation and maintains a competitive edge in the industry.
  • Responds swiftly to any new and emerging vulnerabilities and security threats
  • Provide hands-on support to the frontend and backend engineering teams by enabling the migration of site/software services throughout transition periods.
  • Mentor and influence the team, promoting improvement and development in professional skills
  • Ready to deploy & integrate test pipelines

  • Low-code / No-code Hyper Automation & Cognitive QE
Requirements

The candidate must have a strong technology depth and breadth, and extensive experience in DevOps or software engineering roles.

The candidate should also demonstrate transformational leadership, in terms of setting up an organizational capability to optimize the quality assurance process aligned with DevOps / DevSecOps process and planning, conducting end-to-end down stream testing with the Banks’ core banking and finance systems.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible)
  • Deep knowledge of software development and experience in a range of coding languages such as Python, C++, JavaScript, HTML.
  • Experience with cloud-based AI platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
  • Motivated quick thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Agile and Lean management practices

 

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Business domain knowledge in Global Retail banking as well as experience in setting up a DevOps function for a large-scale enterprise program.
  • Organizational leadership to be able to lead and transform organizational capability.
  • Technology domain knowledge in setting up a quality assurance function in a large-scale enterprise application platform.
  • The candidate should have minimum 15 years of work experience (preferably all tech)
  • The candidate should have in-depth understanding of quality assurance function, and hands-on experience in managing functional, end-to-end NFRs and test automation.
  • The candidate should have experience in managing diverse set of business and technology stakeholders.
  • The candidate should know how to utilize it in the agile process to create effective DevOps strategy and execution plan.
  • The candidate should demonstrate strong hands-on delivery management capability
