Role purpose
The role is to lead the Senior team at a country level as a direct report of the Regional Head of IWPB. Drive and expand profitable personal and business banking relationships. It oversees the consistent delivery of sale & servicing of financial service products, while also ensuring a seamless, consistent client experience across all channels. Delivery a true multi-channel distribution channel in line with the Group strategy and is accountable for the achievement of the country financial objectives.
Maximize profitability through the execution of the define strategies and monitoring of the defined KPI´s. While maximizing profitability through product penetration with an emphasis in the transformation of the bank from a transactional bank to a relationship-based bank. Maintaining and increasing market share will be the responsibility of IWPB through repositioning of our Wealth Business and a sustainable growth in our Retail Business. While reducing costs to enhance CER and maximize our ROE.
Main activities
- Oversee the implementation of Bank activities to achieve the Bank’s operating plan and transform HSBC to become a market leader in IWPB in Mexico
- Grow the Premier business to become the best bank in the country and region for the Affluent segment leveraging the Premier unique offer, international services, and new positioning launch.
- Focus in on deliver deeper, more long terms relationships with our affluent customers by growing our TRB (total relationship balance)
- Promote and maintain a customer-centric culture that delivers fair outcomes for our customers, ensuring customer needs are well understood and met, complaints are promptly addressed, and expectations exceeded.
- Execute Group strategic goals that are proposition led for all segments, including Premier and business banking activities, ensuring every contact with the customer is optimized, delivering incremental value to both the client and HSBC.
- Be accountable for driving the performance of the Direct and Face to Face Channels to achieve financial metrics and meet customer needs.
- Lead and drive a solution led sales & service culture within the organization, consistent with the requirements of customer propositions and delivered in accordance with agreed customer experience standards.
- Champion and drive sales and service initiatives to increase HSBC’s market share and relationships in retail products and wealth management in the country.
- Communicate customer needs to executive and functional management to ensure marketplace needs are met and influence marketing plans.
- Implement the Group compliance locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with Group Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer, and Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and own the relationship with regulatory bodies in the Country.
- Establish and maintain a community presence through active participation in industry associations and community organizations.
- Ensure local strategy is consistent with Group strategy and leverages/develops Global and Regional synergies.
- Ensure close connection between market trends/clients’ needs and ultimate product/channel delivery and business strategy, driving projects in response to market changes and opportunities and in line with HSBC Group strategy.
- Achieve key financial and non-financial performance indicators including revenues, profits, return on equity, portfolio quality, customer satisfaction, employee productivity and service delivery.
- Be an effective and pro-active risk manager, by promoting a strong risk management culture, maintaining a robust and efficient control environment and managing the range of risks including conduct, credit, operational, financial crime, resilience, security and fraud, operating within defined risk appetite.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Lead the in country/region team to design and deliver an Affluent business and distribution network that operates seamlessly across all channels. Deliver market leading service across all channels, products and services with superior customer service and a customer-driven approach.
- Create an environment of teamwork, ensuring collaboration throughout organization and in particular the Senior team.
- Direct strategic goals, in conjunction with their Senior team, key stakeholders and Group strategy to build a profitable and sustainable business where channels are complementary and not competing.

- Strong academic and professional credentials.
- Extensive product knowledge of Wealth and Personal Banking with proven sales success and experience in P&L management.
- Highly motivated, and demonstrates a commitment to developing the HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking franchise in Mexico.
