We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Principal Engineer.
Business: Markets & Sec Services IT
Principal responsibilities
- Responsible for all technical decisions – principles, design, implementation – across the sector.
- Provide positive, hands-on engineering leadership supported by agile delivery and applying the latest technology solutions and architectures from the wider technology community to deliver change with maximum impact.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance for a diverse team of engineers.
- Accountable for technology controls that ensure our systems and services are secure, resilient, and sustainable for the long term and managing the balance between time-to-market and stability with an understanding of the risks involved.
- Through collaboration, driving adoption of best practices across the Securities Services organization.
- Driving a culture of experimentation and innovation within the teams, leading by example with proof-of-concepts and fail-fast, and implementing latest technologies, tools, architectures where required in the tech stack.
- Creating an environment which fosters open discussion, challenging constructively and teamwork.
Requirements
- 15-20 years of hands-on experience in developing and implementing software solutions
- Experience of working in an Agile environment with a strong focus on engineering practices and tooling.
- Proven ability to improve developer productivity – through automation, reusability and other mechanisms.
- Strong technical leadership skills, teambuilder and influencer
- Exposure and success working within a global matrix organization model.
- Ability to liase with other engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand and drive the platform, product or service’s direction.
- Gravitas and ability to interact with and advise senior executives.
- Ability to understand business issues and connecting the dots between issues. Compare and contrast different technical solutions and recommend/deliver the most optimal ones to meet business requirements.
- Ability to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritize and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues.
What additional skills will be good to have?
Sector functional requirements:
- Proven track record with data migration at scale across multiple in house and vendor system.
- Experienced in using AI and ML to analyse and accelerate data migration across platform.
- Experience with large scale data architecture, across multiple or hybrid Cloud platform
- Familiar with Big Data, Data Lake, Data Mesh and Data Warehousing solutions
- Hands on experience with multiple vendors platform integration
- Familiarity with Financial Markets and related asset classes will be an advantage.
Sector Technical Requirements:
- Proficient with Cloud native software development principles
- Proven track record with DevSecOps
- Proven hands-on experience in building enterprise-wide resilient applications.
