We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Architecture Manager.

Business: Wholesale Technology

Principal responsibilities

  • Develop and Define Connect/Host to Host (H2H) Architecture: Lead the design and development of the future state architecture for Connect/Host to Host (H2H), ensuring it meets HSBC’s strategic goals, customer needs, and regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Work closely with business, product management, technology, and support teams, as well as central architecture and CTO functions, to gather requirements, align on objectives, and ensure the architecture supports business outcomes.
  • Ensure Compliance and Security: Develop architectures that comply with relevant regulations such as PSD2 and GDPR, and implement best practices for data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in Connect/Host to Host (H2H) by exploring new technologies, tools, and methods. Lead efforts to continuously improve architecture standards and practices within the organization.
  • Guidance and Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to other architects, engineers, and project teams. Mentor and support the development of architectural skills within the team. 
  • Engineering Partnership: Build a strong and close partnership between architects and development teams to ensure alignment with principals, advise in the early stages of the development process and obtain early input into architectural decisions.
  • Governance and Review: Participate in governance forums such as the Technical Design Forum and Digital Design Authority, providing expert input and securing approval for architectural decisions and designs.
  • Documentation and Standards: Ensure comprehensive documentation of architectural designs, principles, and standards. Establish and maintain architectural best practices, frameworks, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in architecture roles within the financial services industry, with a strong focus on digital banking and Host to Host (H2H) banking. Experience with large-scale enterprise architecture is essential. Exposure to mapping technologies like Seeburger BIS is advantageous.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Host to Host (H2H) standards, API management, cloud computing, data security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PSD2, GDPR). Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing architectures.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in stakeholder management and communication is critical.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Innovation Mindset: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and improve architectural practices. Willingness to explore new technologies and methodologies.
  • Keeps Current: Adept at staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices,  leveraging this knowledge to inform strategic decision-making and enhance architectural frameworks.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.
