Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Regional Manager, Special Credit Unit, ASP.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure period end close for Stage 3 impairment is achieved in line with required metrics of timing, quality and efficiency
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of assurance, internal and external audit points
  • Promote continuous improvement for all reporting activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures/systems change process
  • Review ASP entities’ stage 3 results, provide subject matter expertise to entities and promote consistency in stage 3 calculation processes and handling
  • Communicate risk insights and recommendations to senior management to reduce the risk of potential audit findings
  • Develop effective relationships with various stakeholders (e.g external/internal auditors, GRA, Finance, Group IFRS 9 team, Group SCU team, WCR, CCO team) to ensure stage 3 related queries are being managed
  • Support internal and external audits of Special Credit Unit (SCU)
  • Assist management in providing updates on Stage 3 development in various governance forums / papers
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of Management Information
Requirements
  • University education in accounting or business or risk management
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to Senior Management in a clear and succinct manner to inform decision making
  • Strong sense of accountability and a self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience operating in a complex financial services organization (banking preferred)
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders (at all levels of seniority)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to deal with unstructured problems/ queries and to question and challenge existing procedures
  • Banking, financial, and management reporting experience
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines across often a variety of competing requests
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel ability as well as a suitable technical aptitude to navigate a variety of wholesale credit systems
