We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Sustainability Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

This role reports to the Head of Sustainability, Global Insurance (based in the UK) who is responsible for the insurance sustainability strategy and ensure sustainable practices are embedded into the business which will be achieved through a range of strategic initiatives. The Senior Sustainability Manager is an important role to support the governance of the Insurance Sustainability strategy as well as providing oversight and monitoring of ESG regulations and sustainability risks management, drive employee D&I iniatives, and support execution of the HSBC Life Social Strategy. This role will work with Global, local first and second line teams. 

Key accountabilities:

As a key member of the team, the Senior Sustainability Manager will:

  • Create internal reporting, governance materials and track ESG metrics to be reported at Group Insurance, Group Sustainability and related WPB Forums
  • Provide oversight and monitoring to ESG regulations and disclosure requirement
  • Monitor ESG emerging risks and work with Insurance and WPB Risk to effectively manage these risks
  • Lead work with Global and Local Insurance stakeholders to create insurance content for external ESG disclosure, examples include HSBC Group ESG Report, HSBC Insurance UNEP FI -Principles for Sustainable Insurance annual disclosure
  • Drive employee D&I, Wellbeing and future skills work in collaboration with Insurance HR, Communications, WPB, and HSBC Employee Resources Group 
  • Lead Insurance Sustainability Forum and Employee D&I Forum with Global and Local Insurance stakeholders to ensure active engagement and management of sustainability initiatives
  • Collaborate with local markets and functions to execute on HSBC Life Social Strategy
Requirements
  • Good understanding of Sustainability in the insurance industry
  • Good understanding of ESG regulation and sustainability risk is preferred
  • Prior working experience in life insurance business (marketing, product or propositions) is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and working relationships with a range of stakeholders in an international context
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent command in written and spoken English
