We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineering Manager.

Principal responsibilities
This is a newly created GCB4 role to take end-to-end responsibility of RADAR platform capability and business outcome delivery (e.g. FDSS and other Risk & Finance business use cases). This role will manage a large engineering pod and collaborate with global technology team to Global project delivery by closely working with global product owner and technology product manager. This includes:
- Deliver RADAR platform technology capability, collaborate and drive the IT service and underlying PODs to delivery in line with architecture principles.
- Deliver business outcome as per agreed timeline and budget with relevant business stakeholders from Risk, Finance and DAO.
- Lead and manage a large engineering pod mixed with permanent staff and vendor resources.
- Build trust and confidence with the stakeholders thru faster time to market and quality deliverables.
- Always be customer focused and proactively work with business stakeholders, engagement and other service providers as appropriate to deliver stable and cost effective solutions that meet business needs.
- Review and drive improvements in policies, practices and procedures on an ongoing basis with the view to creating an environment of continuous improvement.
- Accountable for ensuring team deliverables are met within schedule, with appropriate team resource plan, risks, issues and dependencies identified and managed.
- Ensure decisions are based on commercial acumen and risk, align and comply with appropriate process, policies and procedures.
Requirements
Essential experience:
- Qualification in Information Technology.
- Experience in Information Technology, typically focused on software application development.
- 10+ years’ experience in managing and leading a medium to large size team in a technical environment.
- Vendor management experience and proven experience in managing outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in project/management methods and techniques.
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge and experience in Agile and DevOps development practices.
- Ability to manage multiple challenging stakeholders globally with conflicting priorities.
- A natural technologist with proven tracking record in building system and team from scratch or delivering technology solutions with functional and non-functional similarities to Risk use cases.
- A focus on the basic tenets of sound technical design and a desire to embed architecture rigour.
- Excellent communication skill.
- Fluent English speaker.
Desired experience:
- Knowledge of Financial Risk management in banking or financial industry.
- Knowledge specific to the Risk and Finance data domain, understanding of front to back customer journey.
- Knowledge of new and emerging technologies such as GCP, Python, Spark, etc.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, etc.
- Knowledge of HSBC policies, processes and procedures is an advantage.
