IT Service Owner & Product Manager – Operations & Automation IT role is based out of Dubai and has responsibility for the Design, Build, Delivery, and ongoing IT Service Ownership of Utilities & OPS IT products and/or platforms. This position involves regular interaction with senior stakeholders in MENAT and various Global IT teams in different geographies, hence requires strong influencing skills, managerial awareness, and technical credibility. Additionally, job requires sound organizational and leadership skills to assist Head of Utilities and Ops IT in defining and driving Regional Portfolio to continuously deliver and operate strategic products and platforms across MENAT.


You will be responsible for: This position is responsible for product management of key elements of Utilities systems to deliver distinctive value to all sections across of all Lines of Businesses and Operations using current and future technical capabilities. The role holder will play a pivotal role in supporting the function that has an overall, end to end responsibility for overseeing and providing leadership on all technical interdependencies as well as an understanding and appreciation of the Business/OPS needs and ramifications of such products and systems.

  • Work in tandem with Global IT Product Owners and support the product planning, roadmap development, feasibility assessments, and high-level design of business systems or subsystems, technology projects and functions from MENAT perspective.
  • Collaborate with business, technical architecture and other stakeholders to identify product / customer requirements, assess impacts to other data and systems, consider available technologies, compare costs and benefits, and recommend solutions, collaborating closely with the engineering team in building out new features.
  • Work with business/Ops entities, vendors, and service providers in providing technical solutions for business initiatives, and act as the key point of contact. Managing all aspects of contractual agreements with said vendors and suppliers, working with Legal and Procurement to ensure best value for the business.
  • Assess solution viability, recommend strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs, championing and articulating the merit of each, defending in funding and prioritisation both to IT and the Business.
  • Work with Group IT Product work streams and Architecture to align and adopt strategic platforms and products for regional deployments while adhering to the Group’s enterprise architecture, FIM and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the budget assigned and work with the program to raise and control change, if necessary, through strong Change Management adherence.
  • Working with project teams and senior stakeholders, collaborates and influences senior management stakeholders and business partners for all key program plans, commitments, and changes.
  • Acting as IT Relationship Manager with business/Ops to discuss and agree the right IT products and solutions as per Business requirements.
  • Ensure consistent Software Engineering, Software Deployments and Architecture Compliance within the region for all Utilities and OPS IT Systems, holding teams to the highest standards as per Region and Group requirements.
  • Act in accordance with Group standards for methodology, technical design, and security. Review and ensure compliance of the processes / activities managed under responsibility with compliance requirements.
  • Manage activities focused on the deployment of projects from requirements gathering, system design, quality assurance, cost control and implementation planning activities as well as post implementation activities.
  • Reliable, dependable individual, able to monitor and report on the product roadmap and intervene when projects go off track and additionally will also continually re-assess the likelihood of operational risk occurring for project deliveries. Proactively managing risk and issues to increase delivery assurance of projects.
  • Act as an IT Service Owner (ITSO) responsible for the ongoing supply and support of an IT Service and provides a single point of contact for any inquiries related to provision of the service.
  • In the capacity of ITSO the job holder will act as Service Recovery Manager during production incidents and work with Technical and Quality teams to get the service back to normal. He will also manage communications to Key Business Stake holders.
  • In the capacity of ITSO the job holder is responsible for providing strategic solutions, Design solutions that meet customer needs, arrange a seamless transition, ensures service availability as per defined standards and continual service improvement.
  • ITSO is responsible for preparing the AOP for the supported services under his/her remit.
Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Technical Product Management experience in Utilities, Service monitoring, and dynamic/technical platforms in line with group future state architecture.
  • Knowledge on the likes of and familiarity on Confluence, JIRA will be a distinctive advantage over other qualifications.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture, strong understanding of modern API’s enablement, RESTful services, and project management
  • Understanding the following terms and their context for development: XML, JSON, SQL, HTML, REST, SOAP, and HTTP
  • Experience of managing third party vendor agencies and consultancies
  • Have experience working with Agile lifecycle, tracking and process management tools, e.g., Rally, JIRA
  • Ability to work in an unstructured and changing environment, competent at managing an ever-changing backlog and can pivot on strategy and priorities when business needs arise.
  • Working with requirements gathering and journey mapping, working directly with business stakeholders. Able to articulate how these requirements are elaborated and validated.
  • Owning, managing, and organizing requirements catalogues and processes.
  • Customer focused, results-based approach, able to deliver to deadlines.
  • Understanding of how the changing regulatory environment has impacts on the Utilities product design process.
  • Good knowledge of IT policies and practices combined with IT hardware, software, operations, and networks experience.
  • Excellent negotiation and diplomatic critical thinking skills to resolve issues across functional areas and between the organization and external parties.
  • Proven ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders, selectively communicating technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to work with global teams to be effective across video conferencing, email, messaging, time zones.
  • Ability to influence teams to think "outside" the box and look at solutions/approaches outside traditional comfort zones.
  • Able to broker agreement between IT and the business in a tactful way.
  • Ability to question and reduce costs without impacting on quality of delivery.
