Department Profile:

We are looking for an IT Technical and development Specialist within Japan IT team. The objective is to provide more focused,effective and professional technical support to all business entities in HSBC, Japan. The MSS (Markets and Securities Services) Technology Application Development Specialist is a combined role with the Business Analyst (BA) on consultation of best Technology solution can be utilized to achieve business goals, the Project Manager (PM) on end-to-end delivery of Technology solution and the Relationship Manager (RM) on ongoing relationship management with business to keep smooth collaboration between business and IT, as an “Interlocked” function.


Role Purpose:

The individual is responsible of develop and deliver as per business demands, collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to assess, select and recommend solutions or alternative approaches that will achieve business goals, redact time-to-market, cost, scope, while achieving a high-quality deliverable. Support end-to-end planning and delivery of IT projects within budget and timeline, pro-actively balancing scope, schedule, quality and risks. The individual is expected to lead the assigned project(s), take strategic decisions, and manage stakeholder expectations. The individual is expected to operate with limited supervision, demonstrating the capability and willingness to exercise independent initiative in pro-actively overcoming obstacles to success, dealing with uncertainly and changing circumstances, such as interdependencies, opportunities and risks. Further, the individual will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to work, and with an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct.


Principal Accountabilities:


Ÿ   Ability to collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to assess, select and recommend solutions or alternative approaches that will achieve business goals, redact time-to-market, cost, scope, while achieving a high-quality deliverable.

Ÿ   Ability to plan, mobilize, and direct projects of medium to high complexity and scale from inception to closure. Ensure deliverables fulfil business requirements and quality levels and usability.

Ÿ   Lead end to end execution and responsibility for all aspects of the project/programme, including definition, planning, execution & implementation, governance & control, financial, resource and change management.

Ÿ   Communicate effectively with both business users and the IT development teams, and ability to manage conflicting business requirements and project scope.

Ÿ   Pro-actively balancing scope, schedule, budget, risks, outcome and benefits. Ability to escalate risks, issues and dependencies to management.

Ÿ   Cultivate effective working relationships with business users, vendor and other IT teams and ensure that IT solutions meet business requirements.

Ÿ   Pro-actively participate in root cause investigation with technical analysis and provide a remedy to implement a permanent solution, and to prevent the recurrence of problems from SME (Subject Method Expect) perspective.

Ÿ   Observe internal/external daily operation process keenly to manage and seek for the cost effective items. Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality.

Ÿ   Exercise independent initiatives and judgment pro-actively while overcoming obstacles to success.

Ÿ   Keep up-to-date and have expertise on current Tools, Technologies and areas including Cybersecurity and Regulations pertaining to aspects like Data privacy, Consent, Data residency, etc. that are applicable.

Ÿ   Gather and analyze business processes, propose and develop technology automation solutions for Markets Front Office and Markets Back Office (Operation) Team on products such as Repo, Fixed Income, Structured and FX Products using programming language like Java and Python.

Ÿ   Maintain good relationship with users, gather business requirement and turn them into technology solutions by cooperating with offshore IT development team or doing hands-on with major programming or scripting languages for Securities Service business.



Qualifications

≪Must have≫

  • University degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent qualifications in IT related area with minimum 5 years of IT Development/Project Management experience.
  • Full Life Cycle of Business Analysis experience from requirements definition, testing, through to implementation within a business facing IT environment.
  • Tracked record of Project and Programme management experience which include communications capabilities, decision-making, problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding and proven experience of Programme and Project Management methodologies including Waterfalland Agile.
  • Excellent understanding of how Technology adds value to the business and ultimately the end customer.
  • Experience on Stakeholder Management and experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the business.
  • Experience/knowledge on Change, Problem and Incident Management.
  • Experience/knowledge on Third Party applications/systems.
  • Experience on Third Party Vendor management.
  • Experience/knowledge on supporting works which require communication and collaboration with local Clearing and Exchange parties such as JSCC, JPX, TSE, OSE, JASDEC etc.
  • Experience/knowledge on work delivery relates to Markets products such as FX Cash, Repo, FX Options, Structured Products, Rates Derivatives Money Markets including solid understanding on end-to-end activities around order and trades processing.
  • Knowledge on Custody or Securities company backoffice operation and business.
  • Experience/knowledge on Japan specific products like Gentan/Shingensaki, trade life cycle and Japan market practices
  • Experience on Bloomberg TOMS and Repo trading platform like Sungard Martini.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, both writing and speaking.
  • Project Management skills and qualification (PMP, Prince 2, etc.).
  • Excellent team player who contributes to the overall project delivery.
  • Experience working with Offshore IT teams. Ability to direct and influence people in a matrix orientated environment and establish good working partnerships.
  • Experience/knowledge on Microsoft products.
  • Experience/knowledge on Windows, Windows scripting, Linux, Unix, Java, J2EE, VBA, SQL, Python etc.
  • Experience/knowledge on scripting in one or more of above platforms.
  • Experience/knowledge on Cloud Technology (GCP, AWS).

  • Experience/knowledge on HSBC Standards/policies and HSBC Group Systems.
  • s System support (I-STAR, Marketwire etc).
  • Experience/knowledge on implementing vendor system which uses Zengin Protocol.
  • Experience/knowledge on iSeries AS400 platform (including programming languages ILE RPG, CLLE, LE SQL, etc).
  • Experience/knowledge on data analytics and data mining.
  • Experience/knowledge on DevOps process using tools such as Jira, Git, Nexus, Selenium, Ansible, and Teamcity.4. Experience/knowledge on IaC tool for Cloud deployment such as Terraform.
