  • CIB Data and Analytics (CIB D&A) is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. The work done in CIB D&A forms a vital input towards for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges.
  • Today, the CIB D&A team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. CIB D&A has become a one-stop shop for the CIB D&A section of the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as CIB D&A & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Credit & Lending, IT Infrastructure, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management and analysis.
  • The team based out of multiple locations across the GSCs (India/China/Mexico/Poland) providing analytics, data & insight support to various CIB D&A, CMB/ GB portfolios. Team’s focus is on using logical thought process and relevant statistical techniques and right tools & techniques & productize scaled solutions to analyse product portfolio metrics and risk behaviour to arrive at value-based optimum decisions

Role purpose

  • CIB D&A is a world class “data-driven” organization that provides trusted data insights and packaged consumable insights to deliver business value and great customer experience.
  • Delivering value to the business requires access to a range of specialised Data & Analytics skills in locations across the globe. In delivering against a complex and evolving book of work the CIB D&A team need to have access to, maintain and develop the best talent in a highly competitive jobs market.
  • The Business Process Management team (BPM) are responsible for CIB D&A people, process and tooling.  Enabling performance standards and ensuring that consistent principles and governance are embedded across the whole of CIB D&A.  Ensuring performance and functionality for tooling and process are fit for purpose and continuously improved.
  • CIB D&A is looking for a Business Analyst to be responsible for identifying, analysing and optimising business processes to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve customer and employee satisfaction.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for continuous assessment and improvement of CIB D&A related to people, process and tooling.
  • Communication of people, process and tooling updates via suitable channels e.g. email, teams, JIRA. Develop consistent governance when transition process to business as usual.
  • Responsible for documentation of any delivery changes/processes on confluence
  • Requirements gathering, documenting, and executing test scenarios and performing a variety of change and implementation management activities.
  • Support the end-to-end management of integration projects for CIB D&A tooling e.g. JIRA/Confluence
  • Support the automation of reporting required for management forums e.g. Manco, Steerco
  • May be required to work across multiple projects and programmes simultaneously.
  • May be required to support change management activities spanning from early change planning and audience analysis, through to designing and delivering change interventions (e.g. communications, training, support, organisation alignment) and tracking.
  • Taking actions on change readiness, adoption, and feedback. They are also ultimately responsible for Implementation Management, including planning, controlling, and reporting on implementation of the change ‘product’, focusing on accelerating benefits and minimising risk during deployment. Implementation activities will also include managing implementation readiness and managing the initial stages of implementation (e.g. pilot).
  • Business Analysts will often play a people / team management role within the projects / programmes they work on. As members of the Global Transformation management team, they will also have line or assignment management responsibility for a group of more junior resources within their resource pool (as related to their job family).
  • A good understanding of the control requirement surrounding data handling will be advantageous in this role.
  • Assess the operational risks as part of the analysis and implementation planning and execution in conjunction with delivery managers.
  • Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices, report concerns or observations in terms of control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational risk impact.
  • Ensure all due diligence is performed to prevent adverse impact to customers and business operations.
  • Support documentation of risks, issues and dependencies in the RAID log for allocated projects and ensure that these are fed into the programme/PMO effectively.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge\Experience Required

  • Strong Business Analyst, problem solving and reporting skills are essential along with Financial Services experience.
  • Stakeholder complexity – Business Analysts will often need gather requirements and agree designs across stakeholders, dealing with different interests and resolving disagreements and conflicts, and sometimes needing to challenge poor requirements and design decisions.
  • Must demonstrate strong business knowledge and sound business sense, and stay abreast of the industry, business-wise and technology-wise.
  • Ability to streamline and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Experienced in presenting to senior stakeholder in both business and technology.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders, team management and conflict management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating high level of initiative and ability to quickly acquire knowledge and adapt to ongoing change
  • Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, focused, detailed oriented
  • Excellent planning/organisation skills, good time-management and has strong follow-through abilities
  • Proficiency in tools such as PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to create Project plans and tracking of RAID items.
  • Solid working experience in data & analytics field, demonstration of understanding of technology trends, methodologies, and tools for CIB D&A
  • Understand and able to apply project management principles.
  • Experienced on agile projects and understand the application of agile.
  • Knowledge of JIRA is desirable.

  • Content heavy role – Senior Business Analysts must demonstrate strong business knowledge and sound business sense, and stay abreast of the industry, business-wise and technology-wise.
  • Stakeholder complexity – Senior Business Analysts will often need gather requirements and agree designs across stakeholders, dealing with different interests and resolving disagreements and conflicts, and sometimes needing to challenge poor requirements and design decisions. They will often attend and lead these meetings or workshops with no supervision.
  • Understanding complex change or remediation activities
  • Multi-disciplinary – Senior Business Analysts need to be able to shape business requirements and solution designs that encompass all aspects of the delivery (customer, people, process, policy, technology - system, data, infrastructure, etc). Senior Business Analysts may be required to work across multiple projects at the same time.
