The Opportunity: 

  • Global Risk & Compliance (R&C) is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

  • The International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Risk function incorporates teams who provide risk oversight on financial and non-financial risks for the scope of the business, encompassing Retail Credit across multiple markets, Wealth, Global Private Banking, Asset Management and Insurance.

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to drive risk governance, reporting, people initiatives and strategic communications for WPB Risk Analytics.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Engaged in operational activities, supporting the IWPB Performance and Delivery team with BAU activities &

  • new strategic initiatives across the sub-function.

  • Support day-to-day operational requirements of the function including but not limited to: KPIs & MI, internal

  • communications, governance, strategy, functional construct/structure, infrastructure and resolving ad-hoc

  • issues as they arise which may adversely affect the sub-function.

  • Represent the sub-function in required forums and related committees, informing and influencing the decision

  • making of senior leaders to enable achievement of the defined strategy outcomes; and

  • Perform analysis of various data and MI and make recommendations to the management.

  • Provides support to the IWPB Performance and Delivery team as required, on topics of Business

  • Management, Risk Governance & Implementation, and Risk Strategy and Reporting including:

  • IWPB Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • People Plan & Talent Development

  • Risk Governance & Reporting

What you’ll do:

Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders

IWPB Communications & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Manage KPIs and trends in the risk culture dashboard and people dashboard. Support the liaison with key stakeholders to drive awareness of risk initiatives and priorities.

  • Support the roll out of annual strategic priorities, management scorecards (KPIs) and assessment on delivery.

  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies, ensuring alignment with broader risk and business objectives.

  • Work with the IWPB Risk on various internal communications and mailers, including newsletters, leadership updates, and engagement materials to keep employees informed and connected.

  • Work on communications for IWPB Risk team and support the broader Global Risk and Compliance communication plan.

  • Support leadership team events including management meetings, offsites and townhalls.

People Initiatives and Business Management support:

  • Develop and manage a robust People Engagement Plan & People Strategy in collaboration with HR and Global Risk & Compliance team.

  • Perform analysis on results of people engagement such as Snapshot, and support actions on staff engagement.

  • Develop training plans for IWPB teams and support its implementation. Run IWPB risk regular training sessions which form part of the Global RnC training program.

  • Support management team on other HR and People related activities, such as goal setting, career development, succession planning, end of year reviews, pay and reward, etc. as required.

  • Manage/support business planning activities for the effective and efficient management of the function’s general operation.

Risk Governance & Reporting:

  • Support the wider team in terms of preparation of IWPB Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and risk map, ensuring alignment with risk management frameworks and regulatory expectations.

  • Support the managmeent of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) reporting, including identification of key trends, emerging risks, and control effectiveness.

  • Support issues and HELIOs management, if required.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Good collaboration and relationship management, interpersonal, communication skills; the ability to negotiate and influence across networks of matrixed stakeholders to manage stakeholder to one Global solution.

  • Experience in contributing a wide range of projects, across multiple workstream teams and stakeholders of different levels, cultures, and across Global, Regional and Country operating models.

  • Promote the value of challenging the status quo, seeking to improve ways of working and having a forward[1]thinking mind-set, in line with the Group’s values and strategy.

  • Role modelling a positive work culture based on respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity.

  • Be able to work across both East and West time-zones as part of a global team.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of the people, processes and systems involved in the management of various risks.

  • Critical problem-solving skills, able to balance structured solutions vesus pragmatism as appropriate to business needs.

  • Strong prioritization and project management skills and be able to perform multitask under pressure, to meet challenging deadlines, whilst retaining a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to clearly articulate the Bank’s Global Principles, Risk Management and Non-Financial Risk Frameworks and be able to demonstrate how these are embedded in the management of risks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate and work effectively with senior business leaders across geographies and functions.

  • Ability to drive change and provide positive influence to achieve organizational goals.

  • Experience and capability to identify and evaluate risks and be able to articulate appropriate control solutions to mitigate the risk

  • Able to make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business
