The Opportunity:

Role purpose

This position will work as Assistant Vice-President (GCB 5) within the Environment Scenario Analysis Delivery team. The position will report into the VP – Scenario Analysis Delivery and will be responsible for driving the agenda for Climate and Nature scenario analysis and building capabilities in the bank. Key responsibilities would include tracking of Climate run book of control, models and other Climate and Nature Stress Tests, connecting with the CPOs for the delivery of the Internal Climate Scenario Analysis with group and regional stakeholders and generating insights for senior stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • Collaborate and support the Head of Environmental Scenario Analysis Delivery in driving the agenda for Climate and Nature scenario analysis and building capabilities in the bank;
  • Support the implementation of environmental scenario analysis (Climate and Nature) by ensuring the delivery of specific enhancements is undertaken in an articulate, well planned and controlled manner working collaboratively across a number of teams
  • Provide support to assist with a broad range of climate regulatory stress testing exercises across the group;
  • Ensure consistent capabilities are in place across process owners and regions who are engaged in the annual Internal Climate Scenario Analysis stress test exercise
  • Maintain key delivery artefacts across a broad range of areas including planning, controls and models documentation
  • Support coordination of elements of the ICSA exercise ensuring governance outcomes are clearly understood and recorded
  • Given the responsibilities of the wider team, also be flexible to provide support across other areas of focus such as capability testing activities within Valuation in Resolution

  • Ensure personal integrity and adherence to established HSBC policy on conduct, compliance, and ISR.
  • Builds trust of partners (onshore and offshore), juniors and seniors alike by demonstrating HSBC values & practices. Able to build strong relationships with finance and business teams.
  • Actively manage team’s workload ensuring that prioritization of activities.
  • Coaching and technical support to junior team members on a need basis.
  • Understand team members training needs and take initiative to follow through their development plan in conjunction with line manager.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Functional Knowledge

  • 5+ years’ experience in the financial service industry which includes experience in stress testing and project management. Preferred experience with global banks, regulators and consulting relevant roles.
  • Demonstrable Climate Change risk understanding;
  • Enthusiastic about Climate Change and someone who is keen to drive their continuing professional development aligned to how climate and nature risk impact the bank and our clients;
  • Post graduate / MBA in finance with experience in process and controls
  • Understanding of Regulatory Capital and Climate stress test and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills e.g. PowerPoint presentations to summaries and communicate analytical outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple, ad-hoc requests, meet quick turnaround times, and manage stakeholder expectations.

Others

  • Experience in managing specific elements of projects from inception and identify areas of enhancement to existing processes;
  • Experience in working collaboratively across a broad range of stakeholders and building and maintaining those relationships with stakeholders (at all levels of seniority).
  • Proven delivery skills and experience in supporting financial regulatory reporting or regulatory exercises;
  • A self-starter who is not afraid to speak up and face a challenge; also open to listen to guidance and learn as they go.
  • Interpersonal skills and proven ability to work well in a team, be cooperative and open, and embrace diversity.
