The Opportunity:

  • Global Analytics Centres (GAC) provide data sciences support to various global business and global functions across HSBC. Members of the GAC are involved in data analyses and modelling, strategy development and implementation, data management, business intelligence and MI reporting. These analyses enable effective decision making to help HSBC effectively meet customer needs and enhance customer experience.
  • The purpose of the role is to be a key member of the GAC RBWM digital analytics team in Bangalore to support RBWM businesses globally.

What you’ll do:

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Delivering best in class analytic support to the Remediation Team
  • Strong execution with a view to run an agile process for remediation analytics - generating scripts, reports, working on platforms/tools like SAS, GCP, Python generating actionable insights for the business.
  • Rapidly prototyping new solutions and keeping self and team updated of project changes, able to anticipate customer needs, and support non-BAU projects / ad-hoc analysis as relevant, ensuring key takeaways are clearly articulated.
  • Work with multiple customers and stakeholders on projects / reports and models simultaneously

Role context

  • Understand the business problem from story added in JIRA
  • Discuss the problems and probable outcomes in regular stand-ups and keep everyone on the same page
  • Implement the changes based on the business problems and submit the scripts on JIRA for peer review
  • Once the scripts get approved, ensure the same has been submitted on GitHub
  • Peer review for other stories is also a must and to be done thoroughly

Role Dimensions

  • This position does not involve direct people management responsibility. However, as an individual contributor, the incumbent is expected to provide functional guidance to the team of Analysts / Assistant Managers across geographies and virtually lead projects across geographies.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in the field of analytics focused primarily on banking/finance domain
  • A relevant first degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer science or any quantitative area or MBA (with quantitative background)
  • Previous background of driving and successful implementation of analytics solutions.
  • Strong hands on experience on SAS, SQL and GCP. Working knowledge of Python experience would be required for this role
  • Should be comfortable in Agile methodology working style
  • Ability to work in multiple projects/requests simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework
  • Strong analytical skills of proven business analysis experience or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success
