The Opportunity:

  • The Business Management – Risk and Controls (NFR support function) in Bangalore is an extension of the GR COO Office. It plays an important role in partnering with senior management in embedding, remediation and improvement of the control environment in respect of key risks to the Global Investment Research business, including the testing and assurance requirements of the Group Risk Management Framework. The role will deliver on risk governance and control related priorities in a well-organized, effective, and collaborative manner.
  • The role holder would support the Control Office in execution of an effective risk management program with primary responsibilities of supporting, including not limited to, Supervisory, Assurance, Administration of Risk Systems, Governance and Control Process, Reviews and Due Diligence, Control MI, etc., contributing to the control effectiveness. The position includes responsibilities related to a variety of risk categories and related areas such as operational and resilience risk, business continuity, audit remediation, compliance, regulatory adherence, and information security.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in creation of non-financial risk Governance packs and minutes to provide qualitative analysis and insight to senior management
  • Ensure timely production of MI required for submission to various governance forums as appropriate.
  • Gain good understanding of the Helios, the Non-financial risk aggregation and reporting platform
  • Track and monitor Data Quality exceptions engaging owners as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Global Investment Research business and requirements as detailed in the Desk Instruction Manual (DIM) and applicable policies from the Functional Instruction Manuals (FIM)
  • Assist in risk and control assessments including sign-off from Risk stewards
  • Sufficiently document control testing details and results utilizing internal control testing methodologies
  • Support the development and enhancement of control monitoring and assurance procedures and checks for Research owned controls.
  • Evaluate assigned controls for design and operating effectiveness, document results and raise issues as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and escalate issues and propose feasible solutions
  • Logging of customer complaints in the Customer Feedback tool and production of Customer Feedback MI
  • Track emerging risks that may impact the risk landscape and escalate as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable HSBC policies and procedures
  • To assist in updating documented procedures and guides for Research to ensure they remain current and are aligned to the processes taking place
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Post-graduate diploma or degree in Finance; Certification in Risk management/Compliance will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills especially with regards to understanding business risk, processes, procedures and operational controls
  • Adhering to timelines and quality
  • Effective communication and presentation
  • Extremely keen eye for detail, Able to learn quickly, understand and interpret numeric data
  • Ability to work under pressure within a team environment.
  • Advanced level of MS-office skills (Excel, Word, and Power-point)
