HSBC Equipment Finance (HEF) is one of the UK’s leading asset finance businesses providing structured lending to UK relationships and potential switcher targets, across all CMB segments, to support the funding of their capital expenditure (such as heavy commercial vehicles, trailers, coaches, construction plant and machinery amongst others) and/or the refinancing of existing assets.
 

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the Business Risk team in the role of Asset Manager with understanding of asset finance & lending risk.

The function manages the key area of risk associated with asset risk - Is the value of the asset appropriate? Is it complete, fully functioning and as described, particularly if it is used or part of a production-type facility? Are all assets accounted for and are the customer systems and controls appropriate?

In this Role you will:

•    Schedule appropriate appointments for yourself and the team and visit customers to conduct audits.
•    Write papers outlining findings and provide asset valuations. 
•    Reconciliation of records held.
•    Identifying and mitigate enterprise risk as part of the business first line of defence.
•    Ensuring the business aligns with Global Standards and CMB’s Credit Risk policies.
•    Seeking a balance between the bank’s Grow/Protect/Simplify imperatives

Requirements

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:


•    Understanding of risk awareness and the need for strong governance, control, and focused risk management to protect the interests of the business, the group, and our customers is essential.
•    A knowledge of the Asset Finance industry, with an understanding of the products and services provided would be advantageous.
•    Experience in dealing with a wide range of customers and sectors is essential.
•    Experience in Credit, Risk, Sales, or Operations backgrounds would be beneficial.
•    Be able to articulate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
•    To be proactive in looking for ways to problem solve and trouble shoot issues/events and risks.
•    Be able to engage with colleagues in and beyond their own Business area to developing and improving systems and processes on an end-to-end basis.
•    Have a willingness to learn new skills (specialist and niche skills) and have a flexible approach to work.

This is a hybrid position with a base location of Reading.  Applications from those based in Manchester or Newcastle will also be considered.  There is a requirement for travel to visit clients, which are based nationally, so the successful candidate should be able to travel extensively and UK wide on a regular basis.  A full UK driving licence is therefore essential.
