  • The Global Tax Operations Utility unit provides a wide variety of services associated with FATCA and CRS to the HSBC Lines of Business. The role encompasses a number of tasks involving multiple business lines and regulatory environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Managing requests assigned in a timely and accurate manner, contributing towards positive client experience of the end to end remediation process
  • Providing excellent customer service and assistance to the customers on Tax projects.
  • Taking ownership of remediation related problems as they arise working closely with all Tax functions to ensure bottlenecks are resolved in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Providing solutions to problems.
  • Adhering to all performance level agreements at all times
  • Proactively develop understanding of the business and product area thus creating a knowledge base with in Global Tax Utility
  • Work closely with all Tax functions to develop and vet new business requests in an efficient and timely manner, thereby enhancing performance, quality, and accuracy and reducing TAT.
  • Working closely with the reporting managers providing support and coverage as appropriate
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • An active participant during crisis management and process team meetings and Provide support and guidance to your peer group in order to meet GTU objectives
  • Own the profile management of requests assigned.
  • Contributing to positive and productive environment through openness, flexibility, positive attitude and prompt reporting and escalation of issues and proper time management.
  • Should be an active team player.
  • Operational Effectiveness & Control Identifying the customer’s issues and queries accurately. The issues and queries should be analyzed, resolved and answered by following the standards, procedures, policies and group guidelines.
  • Perform activities as per the set quality standards and meet quality parameter defined in for the process. Work on feedback and ensure errors are not repeated.
  • Adhere to the compliance/ audit requirements set and communicated by the GSC management; keep the confidentiality of sensitive information of users; ensure breach of confidentiality is immediately bought to the attention of the line manager.

Major Challenges

  • Need to build strong product knowledge across various projects and Lines of Business to ensure successful migration / performance of the processes.
  • To fully understand the existing regulatory environment and processes of the business and impact on day-to-day activities.
  • Working effectively with key stakeholders using strong influencing skills to ensure mutually satisfactory resolution of key issues and the respective responsibilities are understood and discharged.
  • Ensure compliance with HSBC Group standards.
  • Working in a pressurized, time-sensitive and changing environment 

Role Dimensions

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable internal policies and procedures and external regulations;
  • Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events;
  • Follow appropriate escalation matrix and proactively highlight questionable profiles based on logical reasoning against text-book approach towards procedures;
  • Keep current with understanding of systems, policies, procedures and US regulations
  • Provide a supporting role to on-shore business partners.
  • Work on short-term projects/assignments with primary focus on quality.  
  • Able to support and complete varied section level MI

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge on FATCA and CRS processes with hands on experience to use ENGLOBE application
  • A Bachelor’s degree or with equivalent industry/functional experience 
  • Computer literate and ability to work on basic applications like MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to change along with changes in corporate and department objectives in addition to recommending changes to assist in meeting these objectives.
  • Ability to balance quality and quantity (volumes) with primary focus on quality.
  • Able to support and complete varied section level MI
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving and changing priorities. Procedures change frequently; selected candidates are expected to implement the changes immediately with minimal training.
  • Is self-motivated, pragmatic (sense of urgency is a must)
