  • The Global Tax Operations Utility unit provides a wide variety of services associated with FATCA and CRS to the HSBC Lines of Business. The role encompasses a number of tasks involving tax residency validation across multiple business lines.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for meeting customer expectations and PLA standards for the overall team.
  • Lead and motivate a team in a challenging environment and assist the team in facilitating greater efficiency and timely production
  • Provide support and guidance to the team in comprehending complex ownership structures.
  • Act as a SME to the team and ability to resolve queries.
  • Interpret regulatory/policy changes and communicate their implications to the team. Ability to establish action points arising out of the same and incorporate the impact within laid down procedures.
  • Keep abreast of developments within the regulatory environment and proactively educate the team on the same.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control / Quality Assurance teams to ensure overall high-quality profiles emanating from the team and address quality issues to meet the established performance standards.
  • Oversee to ensure implementation and adherence to audit and compliance requirements and proactively highlight potential issues to the management.
  • Responsible to ensure zero operational / reputational loss.
  • Provide timely and effective feedback on performance to the team on job objectives and mentor team members to achieve the expected performance standards.
  • Plan for effective utilization of resources and exhibit complete ownership of the business.
  • Meet the needs and expectations of customers by ensuring that escalations and complaints are handled in a timely and appropriate manner. Develop and maintain excellent professional relationship with all stake holders.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of workflow, customer service, personnel development through various initiatives like process re-engineering, training, sharing best practices etc. in conjunction with peers and line management.

Major Challenges

  • Need to build strong product knowledge across Lines of Business to ensure successful performance of the processes.
  • To fully understand the existing regulatory environment and processes of the business and impact on day-to-day activities.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or with equivalent industry/functional experience
  • Excellent communication skills (E)
  • Team player and ability to manage people and performance (E).
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and take appropriate / timely decisions (E).
  • Ability to work well under pressure with high degree of accuracy (E).
  • Computer literate and ability to work on basic applications like MS Excel, MS Word and Lotus Notes (E)
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to change along with changes in corporate and department objectives in addition to recommending changes to assist in meeting these objectives. (E)
  • Ability to balance quality and quantity (volumes) with primary focus on quality. (E)

Additional Information / Specific Skills (If Any):

  • Excellent understanding of FATCA and CRS regulatory environment.
  • Thorough understanding of various Line of Businesses: IWPB & CIB.
