               Direct Custody and Clearing:

HSBC’s Direct Custody and Clearing (DCC) business provides comprehensive post-trade services to institutional clients operating in domestic and cross-border markets. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and global connectivity, our DCC platform ensures secure, efficient, and compliant settlement and safekeeping of financial instruments.

Our extensive global network allows clients to navigate complex market infrastructures with confidence. The DCC function supports regulatory changes, market developments, and increasing demand for scalable solutions while maintaining high service quality and risk standards.

               Securities Services Operations:

Securities Services Operations supports institutional clients, including Banks and Broker Dealers (BBD) and Asset Owners and Manager (AOAM), by providing robust operational support across the custody, fund services, and agency businesses.

The team is structured around three core product areas:

  • Custody (Direct Custody and Clearing, Global Custody, Securities Lending and Treasury Services)
  • Fund Services and Global Distribution Support
  • Cross-functional Services (Business Management, Line Control, and Transformation)

               Markets & Securities Services:

Markets & Securities Services enables clients to access capital markets, manage liquidity, and invest securely. Through integrated solutions covering financing, trading, research, clearing, custody, and asset servicing, MSS delivers efficient execution and scalable infrastructure.

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) in Asset Servicing Operations is a key individual contributor role, responsible for executing core corporate actions and asset servicing functions in a highly controlled and client-focused environment. This role does not entail direct team management but requires AVP-level ownership, accountability, and strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will support the full lifecycle of asset servicing events, including announcement capture, entitlement calculation, instruction processing, and payment, and contribute to strategic initiatives such as automation, system enhancements, risk mitigation. Flexibility to work across multiple product lines and adapt in a fast-evolving regulatory and operational landscape is essential.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Process corporate action events, income / dividend distributions, tax reclaims, process of reduced tax rat, and proxy voting with high accuracy and in accordance with regulatory and client deadlines.
  • Ensure timely and correct capture, validation, and dissemination of event data to internal systems and clients.
  • Liaise with internal / external stakeholders (e.g., Clients, Client Services, Business, Compliance, Risk) to resolve queries and support high-quality service delivery.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date process documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and change initiatives to improve system capabilities and drive STP (Straight-Through Processing).
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and propose enhancements to support productivity, control, and client satisfaction
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of experience in securities / banking operations, preferably in asset servicing operations space.
  • Proven ability to independently resolve operational issues, make decisions within delegated authority, and take accountability for outocomes.
  • Strong understanding of corporate actions lifecycle, including JASDEC and BOJ Net operational processes.
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level Enlighs communication skills (reading, writing, & speaking, listening) as mandatory.
  • Experience in managing automation, system enhancment, or UAT.
  • JSDA Certified Securities Broker Representative (Mandatory Requiremnt).
  • Proven ability to work independentaly and handle multiple priorities (e.g., BAU and project tasks).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and internal banking systems

Desired:

  • Deep understanding of Japan domestic market infrastructure, particularly JASDEC operational processes related to asset servicing.
  • Knowledge of tax processing frameworks (eg., DTT, FACTCA/CRS).
  • Exposure to operational risk control and regulatory reporting environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and solution delivery mindset.
