The Opportunity:

  • The role holder will report to the India Lead for Data Management within Data and Architecture Office (DAO). He / She will monitor implementation of the Data Management controls and BCBS239 regulation along with a variety of other internal and external data requirements. The purpose of the Data Controls team is to interpret, monitor and advise. Risk stakeholders on Data Management controls and BCBS239 requirements
  • This role performs monitoring to ensure HSBC’s BCSB239 reporting to the PRA is complete, accurate and evidenced. The bank’s programme to deliver BCBS239 – Principles for Effective Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting closed at the end of 2018 after a 4-year programme. The team has BAU responsibility for interpreting, advising, monitoring, and reporting on the regulation as well as for some compliance activities.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The role’s responsibilities will initially cover the following key areas:

  • Understanding of accounting principles, data flows and regulatory landscape - BCBS239/ GDPR is must, its principles and implementation, investigating and reporting using databases and analytical tools, Policy compliance monitoring and/or audit experience, Strong MS Excel skills including macros.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and visualization tools, Data privacy is required, and data quality is good to have.
  • Administer the BCBS239 self-assessment process ensuring all assessments are completed.
  • Perform check and challenge of self-assessments against BCBS239 requirements to ensure the ratings reported are accurate and evidenced.  Ensure that all issues are identified and fully documented.
  • Ensure scope is up to date and accurate, ensure risk data governance is in place and monitoring compliance levels.
  • Ensure tools (Collibra, Qliksense & in-house tools) used to capture inventories, compliance ratings and evidence are complete and accurate.
  • Perform deep dives of selected BCBS239 or data controls such as architecture, EUCs, Data Quality requirements and monitoring to identify previously unknown issues.
  • Perform deep dives of a country or sub function’s level of data management or BCBS239 compliance.:
  • The role holder will be an organised, diligent individual with an aptitude for identifying and resolving issues.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Essential:

  • Understanding of accounting principles, data flows and regulatory landscape - BCBS239/ GDPR is must, its principles and implementation.

  • Strong MS Excel skills including macros.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of BCBS239 and Data Management controls
  • Project planning and management
  • Strong MS Excel skills including macros.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and visualization tools.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 8+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s or master’s degree from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in computer science, information systems or other engineering specializations.
  • Knowledge of Conceptual/Logical Data Modelling, exposure to Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality assessment and controls implementation using Collibra.
  • Should possess advanced knowledge of Data Modelling and Metadata management.
  • Understanding of Graph Database / Knowledge Graph is desirable.
  • Detail knowledge of data management framework – data governance, data privacy, business architecture and data quality.
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude.
  • Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework. Experience on working on Data/Information Management projects of varying complexities.
