The scope of the GTPM Hub will cover Risk and Compliance for external third parties only, starting with Traditional Suppliers in 2021 and expanding to support Other Third Party types in 2022.

 

The Opportunity:  

Third Party Management (TPM) is the process of identification, assessment, remediation and ongoing management of the risk HSBC is exposed to when buying goods or services from a third party. This is an essential part of our business because it;

  • Ensures we comply to our regulatory obligations
  • Protects HSBC’s brand, values and reputation
  • Enables us to meet our business needs and support critical business services
  • Reduces the risk of doing business with third parties
  • Supports our policies and provides a consistent approach across the bank

In H2 2021, the Global Third Party Management (GTPM) Hub was launched to support Third Party Engagement Managers (TPEMs) across HSBC with third party risk management activities. 

The next step in the evolution of the current support model is for the GTPM Hub to provide a Managed Service by taking on additional responsibility for risk management activities, including the execution of control tasks.

This is a key role in the function that will be or become expert in Quality Checking and third party management and will be integral to the success of the function through mentoring, leadership, relationship management and process improvement.

In addition, in this role you are expected to drive and own the UAT strategy, execution, and governance for One TPM Project [Other Hub Projects with UAT needs] from HUB perspective. This role is responsible for ensuring the new platform (SNOW) meets HUB requirements and is fully functional before going live. Post-implementation, this role will continue to manage UAT for enhancements, upgrades, and future changes to SNOW and any other key platforms ensuring ongoing alignment with HUB needs. Also includes any UAT needs for similar projects.

      

What you’ll do:     

The AVP - QC and UAT to;

QC :

  • Responsible for reviewing the TPRM Case Manager’s activity at an agreed point in the lifecycle related to Third Party Engagements.
  • Perform independent quality checks on tasks that have been completed by the business or TPRM Case Manager to ensure they have been completed to the required TPM standards and agreed procedures of HSBC (these are pre-defined).
  • Follows the guidance provided by the SME and QA activities to educate the TPRM Case Managers & the Manager Sr QCs.
  • Work along with TPRM Case Manager and business in resolving any disputes in the quality findings and reporting.
  • Conduct daily team huddle with QC Manager to share knowledge, process guidelines, resolve queries and escalate the required ones to various stake holders like Case Manger Team Leads and Subject Matter Experts.
  • To conduct huddle and work with the TPRM Case Managers / Team Leads in sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Document findings from the quality check and ensures appropriate and timely remediation of those findings.
  • Understand and document root causes and themes from any findings and provide summary reporting of quality check activity.
  • Identifying consistent areas of failure and supports continuous improvement to improve right-first-time measures.
  • Build an understanding of the engagement, the business and the risks associated to engagement categories.
  • Seeks guidance from the Hub SME or other internal parties as required.
  • Escalates any issues in a timely manner to Team Lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Provides constructive feedback and suggestions to improve quality and process.
  • Maintains strong relationships with Team Leads, TPRM Case Managers, SMEs and the respective site leads.
  • Mentor, coach and train the Manager – Sr. QC Managers.
  • Participate and drive global activity within the GTPM Hub.
  • Involved and leads the resolution of any difference of opinions with the business / TPROs.
  • Review and analyse MIs provided for quality checking and provide feedback in capturing new MI metrics.
  • Conduct daily team huddle with QC Manager to share knowledge, process guidelines, resolve queries and escalate the required ones to various stake holders like Case Manager, Team Leads and Subject Matter Experts.

UAT:

  • Own and lead the entire User Acceptance Testing (UAT) approach, planning, and execution from the HUB perspective. 
  • Collaborate with One TPM programme team (workstream Lead) and key HUB stakeholders to ensure UAT aligns with our requirements. 
  • Define test scenarios, test cases, acceptance criteria and oversee test execution in collaboration with programme team, end users and development team.
  • Identify defects, manage defect triage, and ensure timely resolution in collaboration with programme and technology teams. 
  • Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and test results to HUB management and project governance forums. 
  • Establish a sustainable UAT framework to support future platform enhancements, regulatory changes, and Hub-driven modifications.
  • Maintain UAT governance, ensuring structured test planning, execution, and defect resolution for any changes post-go live. 
  • Act as the single point of contact for UAT-related requirements from the team in the long run. 
  • Continuously enhance UAT processes through automation, optimization, and best practices. 
  • Represent HUB in steering committees, working groups, and other project governance forums to ensure robust testing and business readiness. 
  • Mentor team members on UAT processes and best practices.      
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:       

Functional Knowledge:

  • Experience within a risk management role, preferably within third party management. Financial services experience or at a regulatory agency or major consulting firm is desirable.
  • Experience of managing a complex portfolio of work.
  • A good understanding and experience of the Global Businesses and Global Functions within a Bank, the regulatory environment within the region and knowledge of third party risk.
  • Demonstrable examples of team work and collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Attention to detail and proactive awareness of internal and external policies.
  • Prior quality assurance or audit experience in the context of procurement or supplier relationships would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability mentor & coach team members.
  • Experience of managing simple projects to time and quality.
  • Have excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills with peers, subordinates and suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient in MS tools
  • A good understanding of 1 or more Risk Domains is desirable (providing support and guidance to business functions);
  • Resilience Risk (Buildings, Business Continuity, Information & Cyber, Physical Security, Transaction Processing)
  • People Risk, Legal Risk, Financial Crime and Fraud Risk (Anti-Bribery & Corruption), Anti Money Laundering, Sanctions, Internal Fraud); Financial Reporting and Tax Risk, Regulatory Compliance Risk, Strategic (Reputational) Risk, Model Risk.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in test case design, defect management, and UAT governance is not mandatory but will be a plus.

 

What additional skills will be good to have?     

  • Academic qualification: Bachelor’s degree or demonstration of relevant industry experience
  • The HUB will support global businesses and functions, the ability to converse fluently in more than 1 language is desirable.
  • Experience of Centre’s of Excellence or Global Service Centers in the context of large global organizations.
