Banking is the principal point of contact for HSBC’s largest clients, responsible for building trusted relationships and delivering bespoke services across the full suite of products globally. As an Associate in Banking, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting one or more Relationship Bankers on a defined portfolio of clients
  • Collaborating with others across Banking in order to manage the clients’ relationships  
  • Origination: Identifying marketing opportunities, undertaking appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services
  • Execution: interacting with clients and various product teams in order to ensure smooth execution in a timely manner
  • Client engagement: establishing strong relationships with the portfolio of clients 
  • Financial Analysis: Developing an understanding of clients’ financials in order to assess their needs and the credit strengths / weaknesses
  • Client Materials: Assisting in the preparation of presentations and other materials for clients
  • Sector knowledge: Keeping up to date with the markets and the sector developments to support business development, portfolio management and credit risk assessment 
  • Collaborating with product and country teams
  • Portfolio management / HSBC Strategy: understanding Banking internal return hurdles and identifying opportunities to reduce Risk Weighted Assets to enhance relationship returns
  • Work with the Relationship Manager in mitigating all forms of Financial Crime risk relating to the clients being managed
  • Provide support to the Relationship Bankers in servicing client relationships and enhancing income generation
Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following knowledge and experience;

  • Previous experience in a Banking/Coverage role
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, clients and products and provide a high quality analysis of credit risk
  • Strong financial analysis capability
  • Experience in developing marketing materials (pitch books)
  • Deal origination experience
  • Previous experience in a client facing role – essential
  • Understanding of HSBC Group and products and services
  • Demonstrated capacity to build a network of contacts, both internal and external, in the context of interactions with colleagues and clients
  • A strong understanding of the financial markets
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Understanding of risk management and credit mitigants
  • Strong business development skills
  • Ability to research and develop themes for business meetings
  • Knowledge of the full spectrum of Global Banking & Markets products and services
  • Strong team player
