The Opportunity:
The Business Analyst, with support from the FRTB Programme EQ product owner and Feature Delivery Lead, will contribute to the continued improvement to the quality of EQ Market Data from raw data through to risk calculations that generate complete Time Series for input into Market Risk Models. In addition, the Business Analysts will inform the supporting framework for the Market Data generation including Controls and Data Principles as required by the regulations.
The Business Analyst will liaise with the Front Office IT, Quants, Global Risk Assessment teams, Model Data Management teams and relevant IT systems to understand the issues data, input to analysis, and propose and define solutions. The role holder will carry out some or all the following tasks:
- Effectively engage with stakeholders, build a strong relationship with IT teams, programme BA’s, Finance, Model Data Management and Risk teams.
- Provide clear communication on analysis of Market Data quality requirements, resolution of quality issues and testing and implementation steps.
- Drive the improvements to Market Data issues ensuring relevant stakeholders are aware of the impact and plan.
- Responsive to issues that arise from stakeholders, providing timely feedback.
- Collaborate with FX Market Data Business Analyst for common functionality, and downstream features to ensure understand impact of market data changes.
- Provide technical EQ input to the development of T0 and T1 controls and implementation of regulator specified Data Principles
- Develop a deep functional and technical understanding of the FRTM IMA EQ Market Data lifecycle from raw data to generation of complete timeseries, through to input to the Shock models and impact on Capital calculations.
- Provide input to analysis of extracted data sets with understanding of the application of relevant mathematical risk techniques to improve and measure the quality of market data.
- Consistent logging of tasks or issues on Jira, including testing criteria, to be updated in a timely fashion and continue to conclusion.
- Establish a network of connections across the other projects and interdependent teams, as well as with key stakeholders.
- Provide written and verbal updates during working groups and if required to senior management and stakeholders such as at BODCs.
To be able to provide this level of service the successful candidate will be well organised, disciplined, be able to work with minimal supervision, have exceptional attention to detail, and able to follow tasks through to completion.
Although it is expected that the successful candidate will come from an investment banking background and be familiar with the investment banking environment and have an appreciation of front, middle and back-office functions, it is much more critical they have a good technical understanding of EQ include products (EQ Spots, Div, Repo, Vol) and financial and risk calculations to prepare the data for Internal Risk Models.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Experience gained working in a structured project as a Business Analyst within an investment banking environment involving multi-disciplined teams.
- Technical expertise in EQ Market Data and generation of Timeseries.
- Familiar with mathematical risk and finance techniques to improve and measure market data.
- Understanding of Market Data Lifecycle and the type of controls needed to ensure quality as close to source as possible.
- Good understanding and experience in tracking and managing issues to resolution using Jira framework.
- Experience of working with Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain the key facts of complex issues and present them appropriately to the audience, business or technical, junior or senior.
- Ability to work autonomously under pressure to tight deadlines in a multi-client environment, proactive in reaching conclusions to questions and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Highly disciplined approach to documentation standards, including version control management.
