We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate Director, Lending Product Owner, Global Trade Solutions.

Principal Responsibilities

Embedded Finance is a key strategic priority for HSBC Global Trade Solutions (GTS), targeting to deliver billions in financing balance and over $100 million in revenue. By partnering with leading marketplaces and platforms, we aim to transform how financing integrates seamlessly into digital ecosystems. Collaboration with a major platform is being progress to launch this initiative, while the foundations are being built to scale it as a cornerstone of the GTS business for future. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director, Lending Product Owner to oversee and enhance the performance, governance, and competitiveness of trade finance products offered on embedded finance platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trade finance, product management, and risk controls, with a proven ability to drive product profitability, improve customer conversion rates, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver innovative solutions.  You will work closely with platform partners, lending partners, risk teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure that trade finance products like line of credit and merchant cash advance are optimized for profitability, risk mitigation, and customer experience. This role is critical to ensuring the platform remains competitive, scalable, and aligned with long-term business goals. 

In this role you will need

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of trade finance products (e.g., line of credit, merchant cash advance) distributed through the embedded finance platform

  • Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of digital servicing solutions for the embedded finance proposition, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and customer-centricity

  • Define and implement the operating model for the servicing function, including team structures, workflows, technology/tools requirement (such as chatbots and self-service portals) and escalation frameworks

  • Implement customer satisfaction tracking mechanism, such as customer satisfaction (CSAT), Net Promoter Score (NPS), to measure overall servicing effectiveness

  • Use data-driven insights and customer feedback loops to identify pain points in the customer journey and deliver improvements to enhance satisfaction

  • Establish service-level agreements (SLAs) and performance benchmarks to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery is delivered by partners

  • Monitor and optimize product profitability, risk, performance, and governance to ensure alignment with business objectives; Regularly assess product usage, customer satisfaction, and partner performance to identify areas for improvement

  • Design and implement product controls and processes to mitigate risks associated with trade finance offerings, in collaboration with internal risk and compliance teams

Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA is a plus; Solid experience in trade finance, product development, or related roles. Domain expertise in service design, customer experience, or related subject will be preferred

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing trade finance products, especially those for small businesses such as lines of credit, merchant cash advances, revenue based financing or any small business loans 

  • Experience with customer-centric product design and knowledge of trade finance products, including their economics, risk profiles, and operational workflows

  • Proven track record in designing and implementing scalable operating models and servicing processes, with knowledge of frameworks and tools for measuring customer satisfaction (CSAT, NPS) and driving continuous improvement

  • Proficiency in managing third-party partners/vendors and ensuring compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs); Familiarity with credit risk models and advanced analytics tools used in trade finance product development

  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including risk, compliance, and analytics, to co-design new business model and experiment innovative solutions
