Corporate and Institutional Banking IT (CIB IT) department provides technology solutions to support its Markets and Securities Services business worldwide. The RIVER team develops world-class technology and solutions for the Fixed Income Cash and Commodities business. Working with global business partners, we utilize the latest technology and agile methodology to deliver at high cadence to customers. Therefore, we are offering the opportunity to work with our top tier IT and business teams in the investment banking domain.
The Opportunity:
Our multi-disciplined team includes IT architects, developers and business analysts. Within the team, this Java lead developer role will have software engineering responsibility to understand requirements and design, build, deploy and support solutions as part of a scalable and highly reliable distributed platform to address varied business requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Hands on core Java development - write well designed, testable and performant code
- Deploy and support the software you build in line with DevOps practices
- Design application components and influence the wider system architecture
- Communicate effectively with geographically dispersed development teams
- Work closely with business and stakeholders creating business value and solving business problems
- Contribute to technical delivery plans and timelines with effective Agile planning skills
- 10+ years of recent hands-on experience in core Java programming with in-depth knowledge of concurrency, memory management, performance profiling etc
- Excel in designing, building and delivering high availability, high throughput and low latency solutions
- Expertise in micro-service development, distributed systems, messaging technology
- Ability to take abstract ideas, requirements and concepts and deliver effective solutions and outcomes
- Proficient communication in verbal and written English with other technical colleagues from global teams (UK, HK, GZ, Poland and US)
- Self-motivated. Can work independently and under pressure
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Experience of FX, FI and related businesses
- Understanding of risk management and trade life cycle systems
- Commercial awareness of technical solutions and hardware
