We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of CFO Alternatives.

This role is a strategic leadership position responsible for financial strategy, management, and oversight of HSBC's Global Alternative Investment platform within HSBC Asset Management, overseeing c.$70bn in alternative assets across multiple locations, including Private Markets, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Real Assets, Venture Capital, and Capital Solutions. You will also be a member of the Alternative Investment Executive Committee, Product Committee, Risk Management Committee, and Global AM Finance Executive Committee. 

In this role, you will:

•    Drive financial strategy, planning, and governance across the Global Alternatives business and all investment vehicles.
•    Structure and oversee complex financial arrangements while managing capital, liquidity, and resource allocation across multiple alternative asset classes.
•    Provide effective financial insights, data, and metrics, including detailed product profitability findings to drive asset growth, optimise product mix, and enhance pricing strategies.
•    Deliver effective forecasting and budgeting that aligns with business strategy and growth objectives.
•    Navigate financial due diligence for new investment opportunities and M&A activities, including assessment, structuring, and integration.
•    Direct profitability data and strategic pricing objectives across product lines while overseeing fund-level and management company financial operations.
•    Partner with Investment teams, Alternatives Operations, and Business Management teams to optimize fund structures and enhance operational efficiency.
•    Drive engagement with external auditors, regulators, and key stakeholders across various entities, jurisdictions, and business lines.
•    Direct and develop an Alternative Investment Finance team while ensuring robust financial controls and regulatory compliance framework.
•    Drive automation and digital transformation of finance processes and systems.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent).
•    Demonstrable finance experience along with experience within alternative investments.
•    Understanding of multiple alternative asset classes (preferred asset classes include Private Markets, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Real Assets, Venture Capital, and Capital Solutions).
•    Previous CFO or senior finance leadership experience in asset management.
•    Experience with complex fund structures and special purpose investment vehicles. 
•    Experience of directing, engaging, and motivating a team.
•    Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers and narrative to life (e.g., presenting complex issues to senior stakeholders).
•    Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
