Established in 1993, Hang Seng Investment Management Limited (“Hang Seng Investment”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hang Seng Bank Limited, and is Hong Kong No. 1 exchange-traded fund (“ETF”) manager in terms of assets under management. As a Hong Kong based asset management company specializing in managing funds related to mainland China and Hong Kong markets, Hang Seng Investment is committed to providing investors with comprehensive investment management services through investment managers with extensive experience in managing funds (including a series of ETFs and retail funds) and investment portfolios for institutional and private clients. We are seeking a high caliber to join us as Chief Investment Officer.

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Lead the investment management department which is comprised of investment teams in equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and indexing strategies, as well as product specialist team, responsible investment team and investment support and dealing teams.
  • Collaborate closely with the management team of Hang Seng Investment Management to execute business plan and initiatives and grow the business.   Provide executive presence at various governance platforms and the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure the investment teams deliver investment performance that meets fund objectives and client expectations over an appropriate time horizon.
  • Provide insights on macro-economic development and top-down factors that drive market performance.
  • Optimise available resources and investment capabilities to support business growth and new initiatives.
  • Provide oversight to the development and execution of responsible investment practices which include investment stewardship & corporate engagement, research in relevant ESG topics, and alignment to practices advocated by the UNPRI.
  • Lead respective team heads to groom young talents and encourage team members to grow and learn.  Identify necessary training needs.
  • Act as ambassador for the firm to articulate investment views and strategy to clients and the public in order to promote the firm’s franchise and investment opinion leadership.
  • Maintain a robust and efficient control environment to ensure compliance with Group policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
Requirements
  • University education with degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline. 
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in asset management with proven experience in senior management role.
  • Possession of the CFA designation is expected.  Possession of other relevant professional qualification, e.g. CPA, CFA certificate in ESG Investing, is welcome.
  • Possession of relevant SFC licenses as Responsible Officer.  Experience as Key Investment Personnel (“KIP”) and/or Manager-in-Charge (“MIC”).
  • Prior experience in managing portfolios investing in Hong Kong/China/Asian markets.  In particular, deep understanding of the Hong Kong/China market is needed.
  • Investment knowledge across various asset classes is required.   
  • Knowledge of risk management and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Great sense of business ownership and client servicing mindset.
