We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Climate Stress Testing and Scenario Analyst.

In this role, you will:

  • Accountability for developing and applying climate and nature related economic scenarios to assess risks and opportunities across regions, sectors, and portfolios, with a strong emphasis on international climate scenario frameworks such as the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), IEA Net Zero Roadmap, BNEF, CRREM, CAT and the IPCC reports. You will have deep experience in Climate transition and macroeconomic modelling and alignment with regulatory scenario frameworks as well as engage a complex network of business, finance and risk stakeholders globally for buy-in and feedback.
  • This role plays a critical part in supporting the Bank’s strategic ambition to reach net zero by leading the development and delivery of global economic and climate and nature scenario analysis. As a key member of the Capital Management and Stress Testing (CMST) team within Treasury, you will work across risk, finance, and business functions to embed climate and nature scenario analysis into core processes and stress testing activities, specifically focusing on Scenario development and their socialisation.
  • In this global role, you will collaborate with internal experts and external stakeholders to deliver climate / nature informed scenarios that meet the evolving needs of the business and regulatory landscape. You will be expected to translate complex economic and climate data into clear, impactful messages, influence senior decision-making, identify required Scenario design frameworks, and support disclosures such as TCFD/TNFD and broader climate / nature related policy development.
  • This is a high-impact role that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Bank’s sustainability objectives while developing expertise at the intersection of macroeconomics, climate science, and financial risk management. It is well-suited for individuals who are analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about driving change through data and insight.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Knowledge of climate change / nature risk concepts and economics, particularly with exposure to emerging market climate policy issues.
  • Experience in developing and institutionalising financial and economic modelling, analysis and MI by using tools such as Microsoft, Python, R or Excel.
  • Demonstrable analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to incorporate geopolitical, macroeconomic, financial and climate change / nature risk analysis to scenario design techniques and assess credit risk implications for wholesale and retail portfolios.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the policy, strategy, initiatives and narrative to life (e.g., presentations to a wide range of stakeholders/ senior management).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
