Agency Lending is part of the key value streams in Securities Financing area, and it is undergoing significant growth and investment in HSBC with high business visibility.

The Opportunity:

This is a senior individual contributor technical engineering role, who will act as a technical expert in one or more technology domains, not only being able to hands-on coding (70%) but also play an architect role (30%) solutioning and helping the organisation towards achievable architecture.

What you’ll do:

• Understanding business initiatives through regular interactions with project managers, business analysts and development managers.
  
• Analyzing user stories/ use cases / requirements for validity and feasibility 
  
• Work closely with local and global development teams in overall solution design and technical design activities.
  
• Deliver high-quality Java server-side software solution in a timely fashion.  Any software developed is rigorously unit tested (including but not limited to automated unit tests), satisfies the requirements while adhering to the technical design and existing departmental standards and best practices for software development.
  
• STLC activities: test plan, test strategy, test cases preparation, test case execution and defect life cycle management
  
• As part of agile pod that builds, maintains and supports software for the Securities Financing business line as well as manages a vendor product for managing securities lending service to major UK and international financial institution

• IT experience as an individual contributor and eemonstrable track record of delivery
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability
• Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills
• Strong knowledge of Java server-side and relational database management systems.
• Knowledge of Hibernate/JPA, Spring, Spring Integration, Web services, JMS/Messaging and Oracle (PL/SQL)
• Experience in building test strategies and writing quality test cases
• Knowledge on all levels of testing (System, Integration and regression)
• Programming and Automation Testing knowledge
• Working knowledge on tools like JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins but not limited to.
• Fast learner, open to learning new technologies when needed 
• Ability to speak English as a first language, excellent written &verbal communication skills
• Disciplined approach, able to follow process and suggest improvements where necessary

What additional skills will be good to have?

• Working experience with Trading Platforms and Financial Products: Equities, Bonds, Options & Fixed income instruments. A deep understanding of Front-to-back trade flows in a typical IB environment
  
• Knowledge of Trade Life-cycle
  
• React development experience
