We are seeking an inquisitive and technical person to join our team in the role of Core Strats Director.
There is an increased focus on using our capital optimally and managing credit risk in a way that both helps improve our business profile and ensures compliance with an increasing complex regulatory environment. To respond to this CMB requires a senior thought leader to drive a program to build and utilize a set of tools that leverage the capital models to optimize our business strategy and understand the risk profile at deeper level. In this role you will:
- Lead the design and build of a state of the art code library and development environment
- Be in charge of designing and building the next generation of tools that can be used by the business across all regions that allow us a step change in how we serve our clients and increase revenue
- Provide commercially driven thought leadership in the design and calibration of the relevant credit framework
- Undertake statistical profiling of disperse datasets representing inputs into the return on equity of the business identify opportunities to optimise one or more aspects of profitability metrics with a focus on product pricing
- Partner with Product specialists across the regions especially in the Wholesale Credit and Lending space, GRA, regional Heads of CMB / Coverage, as well as partners including IT, Wholesale Data, Business Finance & Compliance to ensure the models are optimised to serve the CMB franchise and structural market conditions in each region
- Support efforts to drive culture change across the organisation to embed quantitative tooling into increasingly automated processes in asset classes that are becoming technology driven in the marketplace
- Contribute towards the Strats “hub organization” approach – sharing SME expertise/knowledge, and connecting disparate teams
- Ensure all team members are aware of their obligations in regard to internal policies and external rules including those relevant to data access and control, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions and other reputational risks
- Operate at the highest level to achieve consensus on technical issues among a large range of senior stakeholders, whilst driving best in class credit analytics which will support the frontline in delivering ambitious revenue uplift targets
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Broad-based banking experience in financial services with preference for those who have focused on credit, rates or cash management markets
- Proven track recording running an established strats team
- Outstanding numeracy skills with hands on knowledge of coding languages e.g. Python, C++; and strong experience of core Quants software development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of preparing and communicating key messages and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
- Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Result oriented and team player who can foster strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen and execution capabilities, with experience in a Strats / quant / analytics / data function
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience of preparing and presenting recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
- The ability to be a team player and a though leader, drive results and strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
