Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments, and multinational corporations, this team covers fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Director, Private Assets, Securities Services.  

Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that enhance performance and mitigate risk, today and in the future. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments and multinational corporations, Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing services.

The Role

The role-holder, alongside Private Assets product peers, is responsible for the end-to-end client proposition, growth and development of the Private Assets product at Securities Services, ensuring client needs, current and future, are met. The role-holder is also responsible for the definition, design and maintenance of products and services across our key markets in order to achieve strategy targets including revenue and profitability targets. The role sits between that of Sales (Growth agenda), Delivery, Operations and Technology (Execution Agenda) ensuring that we execute efficiently, develop our capabilities, and identify and capitalize on opportunities (new products and markets). You will be expected to be co-lead the Real Estate product globally and in doing so be seen as the authority on all matters relating to the related services internally and externally for Securities Services.

The remit of the role is global. Initially the role-holder’s main objectives will be the successful completion of the Real Estate product build and associated initial client onboarding in Europe. Thereafter the role-holder will be responsible for the implementation of the product offering globally, to include coverage for Asia and Middle Eastern clients. Responsibility will also include the development and execution with sales and product colleagues against a successful sales pipeline for Private Assets client globally.

You will be a networker who can navigate a complex organisation, both internally within Securities Services but within the wider HSBC Group and with external partners and vendors. You will be able to balance the needs of growth and risk justifying actions and evidencing sector and product viewpoints. A strong influencer to achieve the outcomes required, but also resourceful and tenacious.

Principal Responsibilities

STRATEGY

Contribute to the development and execution of an end-to-end global strategy for Private Assets services, incorporating:

  • Development of a compelling product proposition that is market competitive and can support revenue growth targets and a sustainable operating model
  • Responsible for the development and execution of a product roadmap that supports business and client needs
  • Collaborate with digital and data innovation team and external vendors where applicable to deliver competitive digital solution for Private Assets
  • Identify and assess value of new geography, markets, services and impact of market and regulatory developments for Private Asset clients working in conjunction with all key stakeholders.
  • Support development of associated strategy and business cases.
  • Transformation of the operating model to improve efficiency and service resiliency
  • Drives all governance and is aligned with Group practices. Provide product owner support for Audit and all Trustee & Fiduciary risk related matters

COMMERCIAL

  • Responsible for the product commercial performance
  • Responsible for ensuring transactions are commercially acceptable for both client and HSBC, including review of product pricing strategy
  • Ensure that growth is being achieved where it should
  • Ensure a scalable operating model. Maximize consistent use of technology and operating model by promoting repeatable solutions for target clients and identifying efficiency opportunities across the Private Assets value chain through adoption of digital & data solutions
  • Partner with COO to drive efficiency and remediate risk in the product – focusing on the client experience and how clients can do business easier with HSBC
  • Drive prioritization with partners to execute the product strategy (ensuring that critical product needs are added, reported and delivered as part of roadmaps in either, Product, Operations, or Client Service or with External Partners).

DAY to DAY

  • Accountability for the end-to-end product offering spanning technology, third party vendors and internal parties e.g. Operations with a particular focus on Real Estate component of the Private Assets product
  • Responsibility for the design and implementation of a successful product proposition for Real Estate and roll out of that same solution across key Securities Services locations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East
  • Management of both the day-to-day product effectiveness and the execution of the product roadmap across internal parties (e.g. Operations, IT) and external parties (e.g. IT vendors, service providers
  • Support sales in executing segment based sales plans and assessing opportunities
  • Lead product (includes product capabilities) representation during sales and RFP process acting as coordination point where necessary
  • Ensure target clients match product strategy and align capability with responsibility pricing decisions 
  • Communicate segment value proposition via conferences, industry associations 
  • Attend client meetings (key clients) for service reviews, strategy sessions, innovation and regulatory matters. You will have accountability to ensure clients are receiving the correct experience of HSBC.
  • Develop Product Strategies ensuring the needs of Private Assets clients are met.
  • Aware of Risk events of your product in order to pursue holistic remediation with associated partners
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Significant Private Assets experience is required. Experience in Real Estate fund administration is a must for this specific role.
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of the securities services market. 
  • Demonstrate commercial leadership, gained from Consulting, Sales and or Product Management.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of private asset classes (Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Private Credit). Deep Real Estate expertise is a must.
  • A thorough understanding of the private assets funds industry and in particular fund administration product.
  • Strong understanding of relevant technology and digital solutions for the Private Assets industry. Knowledge of Yardi (Investment Management Accounting, Payscan) is required, and knowledge of Investran will be an advantage.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.
