  • Finance Systems Operations (FSO) & System Maintenance (SM) team plays a pivotal role in the upkeep of applications used by Finance & Risk users across HSBC Group. The team provides various services with a mix of technical and functional expertise like Change maintenance, Accounting Rule Maintenance, Reconciliations, Exception reporting, Incident management, Access Management, Reference Data maintenance, monitoring platforms / system performance and also acts as a helpdesk in resolving issues raised by users and provides training to users when needed on applications supported. Also identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness and supporting the implementation of change programs across Systems.
  • The role “Manager-Financial Accounting Systems Maintenance” is responsible to assist the users by addressing their finance queries and resolving their issues in a timely manner. The role holder should also perform routine maintenance activities to maintain the reference data, perform month end GL close activities, actively work on clearing the accounting exceptions and rejects ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The role holder should also collaborate closely with the change team to facilitate a smooth transition of activities from project phases to BAU operations. Also to ensure the uninterrupted operation of systems by proactively managing and resolving incidents.

What you’ll do:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • End to end understanding of the process within the agreed timelines or learning curve.
  • Understand the overall General ledger functionalities and its usage.
  • Good understanding of multiple GL systems within HSBC - FTP, Fusion. HUB, PSGL & AssureNET (Cadency) including architecture and data flow.
  • The level of performance is in sync with the target set as per the SLA/KPI.
  • Update/maintain the Process manuals and Standard Operating Processes.
  • Understanding of production system support tasks performed during Daily, Monthly, Quarterly and Year-end close.
  • Provide functional SME input for the Finance Operations supporting the line finance users and business partners.
  • Manage production issues & resolution and communicate & escalate any challenges to Finance/Business Users, Regional IT teams in a timely manner.
  • Support activities includes assisting in UAT of new enhancements, transition of changes from project to BAU and other advisory roles.
  • Coordination with IT and other pertinent upstream and downstream
  • Ability to support the USERs with Complex User Queries.
  • Ability to support Business & GFOC management with timely system updates.
  • Partnering with the Change team with various system updates and changes.
  • Ability to multi-task and may be required to help in business as usual of similar systems.
  • Responsible for the coordination and governance of controls used in the system.
  • Has the ability to standardize a process by suggesting the best practices.
  • Idea and awareness of implementing various automation tools to reduce manual efforts.
  • Demonstrates HSBC Values with utmost professionalism.
  • identifying opportunities for process re-engineering/ improvements, drive changes independently with minimal directions.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • MCA / BE / MBA / M Com. Qualified Accountant (Chartered, ACCA or CIMA) with overall 7-10 years work experience                            
  • 5+ years of experience of working on Finance Systems
  • Knowledge of General ledger systems is must.
  • Knowledge of SOX and Audit Controls related to process management.
  • Update/maintain the Process manuals and Standard Operating Processes.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and transform huge volume of finance data.
  • Experience of Process Streamlining using automation tools (like Xceptor/PYTHON/Appian)
  • Ability to quickly learn & understand the

  • Open to work on weekends on need basis.
  • Respond to and provide extended support as required by the Business Deliverables. – Extended hours / weekend support.
