The purpose of the Risk Manager role is to support the Senior Business Risk Manager in ensuring a robust customer-driven risk and control framework within HSBC UK. This role focuses on assisting in the management of non-financial risks, promoting a sound risk culture, and providing risk-related guidance and support across the business

In this role you will:

•    Ensure strong governance by collaborating with Risk Owners to guarantee timely completion of actions and assisting Risk Stewards in monitoring the effectiveness of first Line of Business Compliance Controls, including the management and reporting of issues and actions. 
•    Support the production of Risk and Control Management Meeting pack through Management Information insights and stakeholder contributions.
•    System administration duties involve handling a variety of tasks, such as responding to general Helios inquiries, managing SOX approval processes, and overseeing the creation and retirement of controls. This role also includes logging issues in Helios, acting as an approver for Risk & Compliance in the First Line of Defence (1LoD), and managing user access for systems like Helios within HSBC UK Risk and Compliance. Additionally, it involves providing support for KBD-related queries.
•    Collaborate with the Senior Risk Manager to identify, mitigate, and manage non-financial risks. Contribute to initiatives that foster a robust risk culture, ensuring ethical practices and positive customer outcomes.
•    Utilise the Risk Management Framework to evaluate exposures and dependencies, aligning with the organization's risk appetite. Complete Read Across Activities for Risk & Compliance.
•    Assist in providing risk advice and oversight for projects, change programs, incidents, and ad-hoc tasks. Enhance risk awareness through educational initiatives and effective communication across the business.
•    Aid the Senior Risk Manager in advising Risk and Control Owners, managing non-financial risks, controls, and issue management. Support audit/assurance closures and oversee Continuous Monitoring Assessments (CMAs).
•    Analyse reports to identify trends and potential exceptions, proactively addressing issues before they arise. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes and leverage innovation for improved efficiency.
•    Manage and deliver work programs driven by business lines and global functions, responding to queries and extract data from Qlik-Sense for stakeholder requests.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    A good knowledge of the external environment (Risk, regulatory, political, competitors etc.).
•    Previous senior stakeholder management, strong relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
•    A good understanding of the business dynamics/structure, both within the UK and more Globally.
•    Experience of working in a Risk or Compliance function or within relevant 1LoD teams
•    Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Experience of Helios and Qlik dashboard reporting - essential

This role can be based in Sheffield, Birmingham and Leeds, other hub sites may be considered.
