Data Controls is one of the Operations division within Data & Reg Reporting under Markets & Securities Services
Teams under Data and Reg Reporting are:
- Front to Back Data Control (F2BDC)
- Risk and Collateral
- Trade Conduct and Finance Controls
- Tax Services
- Trade and Transaction Reporting
- Reference Data Producer
The Operational Hub Teams provide support to a number of Traded Risk/Finance/Collateral/Front office Functions/Teams across the HSBC Group.

We are currently seeking for an ambitious individual to join the Front to Back Data Control Team in the role of AVP - Front to Back Data Control /Manila (GCB5).
The Opportunity:
The purpose of the role is to provide a AVP (Assistant Vice President) Function for the Front to Back Data control team, with details defined below. The role provides 360degree understanding of Trade and Risk data on booking, valuation and consumption in bank.
The team is responsible for ensuring the production of complete, accurate and timely, risk and valuation data. The role will support not only managing the operation and controls but also support the articulation and delivery of the new target operating model as required under the Bank's various Future State programmes
What you’ll do:
- Ensuring the end to end integrity of Risk and Valuation Data by executing enhanced controls for the data to be readily consumed by all consumers including Traded risk, Finance, Collateral etc.
- Implementing Future state architectural system(VAULT) for centralized control in the bank in accordance of BCBS 239 principles.
- Publishing and analyzing daily control reports for each asset class (EQ, FX & FI) for materiality of risk impact
- Acting as product owner for VAULT in various scrum calls with Quants, IT, Finance and risk to provide necessary control requirement.
- Onboarding of new risk measures as per SA and IMA for FRTB reporting requirement on VAULT.
- Using Agile methodology, raising Jiras to IT, performing UATs for all controls implemented.
- Providing key highlights to consumers in daily handshake calls.
- Understanding of financial instruments and their key risk and valuation measures such as PVBP, CS01, VAR, MTM, PV etc.
- Responsible for executing controls and performing L1 investigation for exceptions as detailed below:
- Risk Data quality checks and controls on sources/ inputs - PTS, Pricing engine and Vault Data
- Coordinating with Front office IT and Quants team to achieve strategic fix on pricing exceptions
- Reference Data Quality Controls on static data for external and internal golden source such - GRDS, HMS, XBH, XDS, BBG, Reuters etc.
- Liaises with feed providers to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of inputs for reporting. This includes prompt escalation of delays and incomplete data for proper workaround and/or resolution. Onboarding of new risk measure
- Using Agile methodology, raising Jiras to IT, performing UATs for all controls implemented.
- Providing key highlights to consumers in daily handshake calls.
- es as per SA and IMA for FRTB reporting requirement on VAULT.
- Participate in User Acceptance Tests (UATs), as required, on any system enhancements or roll-outs
- Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate quality standards, with reference to internal and external compliance rules, and are comprehensively documented.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards and address audit points and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner. Foster a compliance culture within the team, managing compliance risk and ensuring that the necessary training is completed. Optimizes relations with regulators.
- Engage with internal and external auditors to satisfy questions and requests as part of formal and informal reviews.
- Providing oversight and direction to the direct reporting line to achieve team objectives and goals.
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Promote greater understanding of Data & Reg reporting (DARR) role in the GBM umbrella.
- Able to manage priorities and workload within schedule and work standards.
- Work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member.
- Ability to work cross culturally with a strong collaborative and inclusive mindset
- Effectively work and interact with staff at all levels within and where applicable, with non-DaRR teams
- As an SME, the role requires to be able to effectively assist on production issues raised by Analysts and
- pro-actively coordinate for any production-related requirements.

- Where possible, take lead or get involved on wider initiative roll-outs.

- Establish and maintain communication link with relevant stakeholders with respect to all process and people-related activities and issues
- Address any adhoc queries on a timely manner
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Good understanding of financial products, risk management principles, risk & valuation measures (i.e. PVBP, VaR & other Sensitivities) and systems
- High level of competency in the production of information, and the ability to process, analyze and interpret market risk reports
- High proficiency in Excel (VBA & Python would be an advantage), Word and Powerpoint.
- Ability to work cross culturally with a strong collaborative and inclusive mindset, and committed to equal employment opportunities
