The scope of the Futures team in Manila consists of Client Servicing, Trade Capture and Cash Management functions for Futures product. This includes the following activity
  • Interacting with clients to ensure margin obligations are fulfilled as well as dealing with client queries.
  • Daily notification to clients/ internal stakeholders on expiring contracts
  • Facilitating the deliveries of exchange traded contracts to counterparties, both internally and externally.
  • Daily processing of Stock Options and resulting exercise and assignments, ensuring close coordination with Clients, Client Services and the Equity Operations team


The Opportunity:

The primary responsibility of the role within Futures Operations is to ensure the capture and successful settlement of all futures and options trades for all primary markets (APAC/European regional markets) and completion of all secondary markets (USA) where the final end-account trade bookings must be completed.

The successful processing of Futures ‘Deliveries’, which incorporates, Contract Expiries, Contract Deliveries, Option Exercise and Assignments and finally Corporate Actions. Failure to action events correctly or notify clients within the correct timeframe, can lead to significant financial loss and reputational risk to the firm. As such the ‘Deliveries’ function includes many of the highest risk processes across the Futures team.


What you’ll do:
  • Daily successful settlement of Exchange Traded Futures and Options on an intraday basis with all exchanges and 3rd party brokers
  • Follow daily trade processing controls across the team, including EOD completeness checks for all market
  • Demonstrate compliance of trade processing practices to the respective regulatory and exchange responsibilities
  • Escalation all breaks or trade processing issues
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the trade processing flows and practices also the regularity and exchange responsibilities required for each.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding our internal and external clients, ensuring that efficient and controlled trade processes are deployed

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • A University Degree with at least 2 to 5 years working experience in Futures product.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of:
    • futures and options product and market risk
    • clients and client processing risk
    • HSBC FIM and risk requirements around generic practices
    • Exchange rules and regulatory environment across Asia & Europe.
    • Futures offering and capabilities

What additional skills will be good to have?

Desirable Futures Experience
  • Trade processing of Exchange Traded Derivatives at a top tier broker or Investment Bank
  • Exposure to Clear vision trade processing/matching
  • Exposure to Rolf & Nolan operating platform or similar product
