Your career opportunity
You’ll join a cross-border support and release function working with colleagues in Poland and Germany to keep critical applications stable and safely delivered on IBM Mainframe z/OS. This is a GCB4 role, so it’s hands-on technically, but with enough scope and autonomy to coordinate the work of several engineers and keep releases moving at pace.
In practice, you’ll be at the centre of mainframe application maintenance and the end-to-end release process—planning and coordinating change implementation, managing risk and dependencies, and driving continuous improvement so that releases are predictable, compliant, and increasingly automated. If you enjoy combining deep technical context with clear leadership and calm execution under pressure, this role gives you visibility, impact, and a strong platform for further growth in technical leadership.

What you’ll do
    • Coordinate mainframe release and change implementation activities.
    • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and manage escalations.
    • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
    • Ensure compliance with Change and Release Management processes.
    • Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing.
    • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Strong mainframe z/OS experience, including working knowledge of TSO/ISPF and TWS.
    • Proven release implementation skills in a mainframe environment: understanding release cycles, change windows, dependencies, back-out planning, and operational readiness.
    • Confidence in coordinating work across multiple engineers/streams (task prioritisation, sequencing, decision-making, follow-ups.
    • Solid grasp of Change & Release Management expectations (process discipline, auditability, risk assessment, and stakeholder sign-off).
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and manage escalations effectively, keeping stakeholders informed and options clear.
    • Strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing skills: coaching engineers, raising capability across the team, and building reusable guidance/runbooks.
    • Good people and stakeholder management: clear communication across locations, constructive challenge, and a “get it done" mindset when priorities compete.
    • A continuous improvement attitude — spotting bottlenecks in the release process and helping drive process improvement/automation where it makes releases safer and faster.
