The Treasury Risk Management (TRM) second line of defence team provides independent oversight and challenge of balance sheet risk for the HSBC Group. The team provides subject matter expert oversight over Treasury activities specific to Capital, Stress Testing, Recovery and Resolution and Financial planning in the form of strategy, policies and analysis to support effective risk management. This includes collaborative and critical thinking with Treasury and Global businesses (the First Line of Defence) to ensure early identification and remediation of emerging risks. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team within the Treasury Risk Management (TRM) Capital Risk team.
What you’ll do
- Provide second line of defence (2LOD) risk stewardship for Capital Risk, working closely with first line of defence teams (1LOD) in Global Treasury and wider Finance to ensure appropriate measurement, monitoring and management of capital.
- Support the effective review and challenge of key capital processes including, ICAAP, Capital forecasting under BAU and Stress environments, and other capital programmes of work.
- Support the maintenance of the Global Capital Risk Policy and supporting frameworks, including engagement with 1LOD and 2LOD Capital Risk colleagues on any policy changed, review of policy variations & dispensation requests, publishing policy updates and supporting review of procedure updates.
- Provide oversight of capital risk controls, metrics and thresholds to ensure they are within the defined approved corporate standards, including internal risk reporting.
- Monitor Capital Risk Internal Events, Issues and Actions: ensuring timely management of items within NFR inventory system (Helios).
- Provide advice on regulatory change, including impacts on internal policy, controls, rule traceability (e.g. delivery of RAPID2 changes).
- Support the 2LOD oversight of capital regulatory reporting and disclosures.
- Support the implementation of global risk stewardship related initiatives and projects which impact Capital Risk (e.g. RMF simplification, RCA coordination, ELC assessment, climate risk materiality assessment etc).
- Build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across Risk, Global Treasury, Markets Treasury and front-line businesses.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Practical experience of capital risk management within a large international firm in either the first or second line of defence, (e.g. ICAAP, Stress Testing, Risk Appetite setting etc).
- Experience in reviewing regulatory change and impact assessment on capital policy / processes / controls / management / reporting.
- Experience in writing / maintaining internal policies and frameworks, including strong governance and delivery discipline.
- Ability to interpret complex risk reports from multiple sources, identify key material risks and draw insightful conclusions.
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
What we offer
The pay range for this role is 15025 PLN - 22533 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
