Some careers shine brighter than others
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Your career opportunity
Practice Lead in Applied Capability Engineering (ACE) drives organization-wide capability initiatives that improve engineering outcomes across GCIO. You’ll define and scale standards, best practices, and governance that measurably uplift delivery performance—accelerating release frequency, improving Lead Time to Deploy (LTTD), strengthening testing effectiveness, increasing AI adoption, and expanding adoption of standard pipeline and deployment services.
You’ll partner with CTO-aligned engineering teams, platform/service owners, QA, and delivery leaders to turn priorities into practical, reusable ways of working—then make them easy to adopt through enablement, dashboards, automation, and embedded engineering support.

What you’ll do
Accelerate adoption of standard CI/CD pipelines and deployment services across CTO portfolios.
Create and maintain best practices, standards, guardrails, and governance processes for GCIO initiatives.
Establish lightweight governance that speeds teams up rather than slows them down (clear decision points, templates, reference implementations, and pragmatic controls).
Socialise practices through playbooks, brown bags, office hours, training, and “show-and-tell” sessions.
Build a network of champions across engineering teams and help teams tailor adoption without fragmenting standards.
Act as a consultative partner to multiple CTO teams concurrently, balancing hands-on support with scalable enablement.
Deliver adoption accelerators such as 1) Dashboards for release frequency, LTTD, pipeline health, and quality signals 2) Automation to remove manual steps and reduce operational overhead 3) AI-enabled engineering capabilities that improve productivity and consistency
Collaborate with CTO teams, platform engineering, QA/testing leaders, architecture, risk/control partners, and delivery leadership.
