Your career opportunity
Global Markets Product Control is a division of Global Banking and Markets Finance responsible for the production and independent validation of Global Markets' profit and loss and balance sheet. In this regard, Product Control will ensure, inter alia, that accounting policies are correctly and consistently applied, and that Trading portfolios are appropriately valued. The daily process involves daily & monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations and substantiation as well as reporting activities and close engagement with various senior stakeholders in Product control, IT, Operations, Change and Business to meet business requirements as they may arise.

What you’ll do
    • Manage the process (act as a subject matter expert) and also act as an individual contributor delivering P&L and Balance Sheet Reconciliations & Substantiation and reporting activities pertaining to Global Markets business.
    • Review and approve the upload of the results for further FO approval and supervise the preparation of commentary and analysis.
    • Identification and coordination of resolution of production exceptions where possible and working closely with other Product Control teams as and when required to resolved exceptions.
    • Coordinate responding to onshore and offshore queries and incorporation of any onshore adjustments for which explanations should be received.
    • Supervise, initiate & coordinate reengineering, streamlining and continuous improvements of processes to achieve economies of scale and increased service quality. 

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • University graduate from a reputed institution in financial or economic subject or university graduate in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.
    • Preferably International financial/accounting certificate (CIMA, CFA, ACCA).
    • 4+ years of relevant experience in working within Financial Markets or a Treasury department.
    • Good understanding of Financial Markets (products traded and their life cycle, accounting principles and valuation techniques).
    • Excellent written English and oral communication skills.
    • Advanced MS Excel, MS Access and VBA is an advantage.
    • 18 months of experience in Product Control role.
