The GCIO Chief Control Office (GCIO CCO) plays a meaningful role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. This is achieved by providing operational risk and control expertise, conducting high quality reviews of the bank's control environment, conducting end to end control assurance reviews on key controls, maintaining robust risk governance focused on material risk and issues, and evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management.

We are currently seeking a bold and experienced Senior Controls Manager to join the Corporate and Institutional Banking and HBEU Technology CCO team. This role will support the Global Head of CIB & HBEU Technology CCO.

What you’ll do
    • Act as a GCIO CCO lead for Western Markets CIOs (HCIB & Americas). Coordinate full lifecycle of HICB, LAM & US Tech RCMMs to support CIOs in their risk framework obligations.
    • Coordinate inward & outward risk & controls governance for HCIB, LAM & US Tech. Coordination of required actions to maintain ERM scorecard measures and Issues management related metrics within desired levels
    • Actively review TCS GRAS and KCIs position for regional areas under coverage and discuss risk impact with relevant stakeholders.Understand consumed position for relevant regions, identify parties owning the remediation and drive discussions on required uplifts.
    • Ensure issues are proactively identified and documented in Helios by Western Markets Tech teams with the right level of detail including impact assessment and success criteria. Own control linkage decisions within SLA
    • Drive consistent responses to Internal Audits for regional coverage areas.Support / sanitize respective regional Tech response to External Audits. Coordinate cyclic reg reviews for HBEU, LAM & US Tech including horizon scanning for emerging regulatory asks.
    • Partner with Regional Risk Owners / Business Risk Teams to ensure impact of the control effectiveness including key remediation timelines and key issues  is adequately messaged
    • Act as trusted advisor for senior management within remit area on how to accurately manage their operational risk i.e., risk assessments, control environment, issues management.
    • Promote accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis, actively challenging poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours. Provide specialist risk and control knowledge and insights, leading efforts to continuously improve the control environment and monitoring of risk, including behaviours
    • Influence and shape the development and implementation of future-fit risk management and regulatory frameworks. Provide Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Must have a strong technology and technology controls knowledge i.e. architecture, platforms, resilience
    • Proven experience in a technology risk/audit/control or other related role. Markets experience/exposure is key.
    • Previous experience of identifying, defining and solving problems that have impact on your work or the wider business.
    • Proven track record of increasing business performance i.e. developing, aligning and translating strategies & plans to achieve business and functional goals.
    • Strong communication skills to influence and challenge stakeholders.
    • A good understanding of the products used in this business area.
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to present complex issues expertly and concisely to senior partners using non-technical language.
    • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Flexible and adaptable, able to handle and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
    • Active industry recognized certificates will be an asset, e.g. CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CCSP etc.
