Join the Global Design Team within International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) at HSBC, where we create best-in-class experiences that make a difference in customers' lives. This role is part of the Design System where you will power scalable, consistent, and efficient digital experiences to create best-in-class digital experiences that make a difference in customers lives. Your work will span design tokens, theming, component engineering, and Figma tooling, enabling hundreds of designers and developers to deliver high-quality interfaces across brands and platforms.   
As a Senior Creative Technologist, you will help bridge the gap between design and engineering. You will develop tooling and plugins, contribute to our GenUI (Figma-to-code) workflow, and evolve the technical underpinnings of our design system. You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product teams to improve the quality and efficiency of design handoff and implementation.  

What you’ll do
Support the adoption, evolution, and technical implementation of our design system in Figma and beyond as well as develop and maintain custom Figma plugins and tools to support design workflows and DevOps.  
Contribute to GenUI - our platform for Figma-to-code generation and automation as well as contribute to documentation, best practices and training materials for global design and development team  
Identify opportunities for automation, innovation, and performance improvements within the design system ecosystem   
Partner with design and development teams to ensure seamless integration of components and tokens.  
Explore and pilot AI-driven design tools and efficiency methods.  
Maintain and extend the technical architecture of the Hive design system as well as ensure system scalability, performance, and maintainability across platforms and brands.  
Provide technical mentorship to other team members and support design adoption.  
Collaborate across markets to understand cultural nuances and regulatory requirements that impact user experience.  

What you need to have to succeed in this role
Strong front-end engineering skills, ideally with experience in design system infrastructure with proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Figma plugin APIs.  
Deep understanding of component-based frameworks (e.g. React) and design token frameworks  
Experience with Figma, including components, styles, token and plug-in development   
Skilled in design-to-code workflows and tools (e.g. Figma, APIs, CI/CD, codegen)   
Experience in native mobile app development (iOS/Android) is a plus   
Ability to build scalable, accessible, and maintainable design systems across platforms  
A track record of plugin/tolling contributions or design system implementation is highly valued   
Ability to translate design specs into reusable technical components and systems as well as familiarity with accessibility, responsive design, and cross-platform development.
