Global regulators have an increasing expectation that firms have adequate systems and controls to conduct surveillance against, among others, market abuse offences such as Insider Dealing, Market Manipulation and Dissemination.
The role is based within the Global Service Centre (GSC) and is part of Financial Crime Surveillance. The purpose of the role is to cover the second level review of alerts escalated by Level 1 in order to detect potential instances of market abuse, market manipulation, sharing confidential information or any breach of internal or external regulations, rules or industry standards and/or firm policies. The objective is to also ensure that all alerts are either escalated further to Level 3 or closed at Level 2 and the appropriate feedback/commentary is provided to Level 1 analysts.
In addition to the review of alerts, Surveillance Manager is expected to participate in various projects or assignments in close collaboration with the onshore surveillance team. The incumbent also acts as a local expert for the team in their surveillance area and is expected to provide training, feedback, keep the team up-to-date on the recent developments in the field of surveillance.
What you’ll do
• Performing Level 2 review of alerts escalated by Level 1, their risk assessment and referral to Level 3 or closing at Level 2, providing relevant feedback to Level 1 analysts and documenting the resolution and any corrective action taken.
• Participating in any projects or assignments in close collaboration with the onshore Surveillance teams, assisting in reporting, data analysis as well as staying up-to-date with developments and technological advances in the field of surveillance.
• Cooperating with the on-shore partners in order to understand unusual communication and trading behaviors.
• Being able to work with colleagues in other HSBC centers to contribute to global improvements in surveillance.
• Supporting the growth and expansion of critical and time sensitive services across all Global Business Lines in multiple countries.
• Contributing to the growth and development of the RC Surveillance team.
• Ensuring all follow ups are closed out in a timely manner and to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Maintaining statistics and metrics for appropriate stakeholders, identifying patterns and contributing to management reports for appropriate escalation of significant issues, accomplishments and forward looking risks.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
• Very good knowledge of financial markets and, in particular, financial market regulation
• Good understanding of market abuse scenarios and the related regulations;
• Knowledge of Electronic / Audio Surveillance monitoring tools would be a strong asset;
• Prior experience working in financial services
• Educated to degree level
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead by example
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong ability to learn new technologies
• Appropriate analytical skills to dissect key information and have a good eye for detail

The pay range for this role is 9,648 PLN - 12,500 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
