We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

This role will report into the CIO of GTS technology. And the successful candidate will be responsible for the optimised, innovative and fit to purpose solutions without compromising security or functional aspects keeping in mind the business goals/strategy for the platform and our customers including operations for achieving NPS and SUT targets agreed with GTS stakeholders

Job Requirements

• Microservices and API Based solutions – Help design and guide engineering teams to break millions of lines of code into manageable business, reusable microservices that can accelerate change , testing , deployment and control over  platform code.
• API Gateway –  Bring API GW for platform APIs.
• Optimizing Staff Channel user experience –Work on redesign and restructuring/simplification of the code to bring down the elapsed time of staff experience.
• Event Driven Architecture – Including reducing the use of xml or file based manual upload of critical data elements which are required for transaction processing; instead fetching them consistently from the golden source. Currently platform integrations are request / response and tightly controlled integration based. This role will help to drive the design and implementation of event driven architecture for batch, upstream and downstream integration
• Globally consistent technology Architecture- Technology Architecture that will reduce CTB, RTB, infrastructure costs and ultimate TCO. Currently, the platform comprise of variety of technology stack composition ( JBOSS , WebLogic, Tomcat) . The role of the engineer lead should help the migration of existing technology instances to open source spring boot patterns that are in line with bank technology standard and vision. This will also reduce platform cost.
• Cloud Adoption - Leverage cloud to enable faster deployment and improved utilisation of infrastructure. Currently platform is not Cloud Ready due to variety of challenges. This role will help to steer the cloud adoption strategy and guide engineering team to build cloud native solutions.
• Tech debt clearance – The candidate will help to address issues around non-standard software, longlines of code, calculation methods which are to be standardised (interest, charges etc)
• Maximise Straight Through and real-time Processing - One of the key agenda from Trade product perspective is to enable STP functionality for trade products to deliver efficiencies in terms of processing and manual transaction handling. This role will work on design and guiding engineers to setup the STP framework for Trade products end to end.
• Batch Optimization  - For Global deployment on consolidated instance , it is important to ensure platform can run batch efficiently under the desired SLA. This role will help to work on design and implementation of platform Batch architecture in order to run the batch within the SLA 
• Service resiliency – Making sure the global platform is resilient and equipped with right level of tooling covering alerting, monitoring, self serving/healing platform which is robust from security as well as performance perspective. With always on services provided to business. This will also include mandatory maintenance and DR activities. The functional production tickets and making sure that we have a robust business facing as well as processing engines delivering highest NPS as well as service availability KPIs

• The candidate must have a strong depth and breadth of technology experience, managing a large scale Transformational portfolio which includes global platforms, services and overall IT ecosystem supporting the business service line
• Business domain knowledge in commercial banking, transaction banking and trade finance is preferred.
• Strong background in application development, APIs, security, global product in multisite environment and downstream banking systems (core banking, payments, sanctions etc) will be instrumental in driving the success of our Technology portfolio while maintaining a high standard of software engineering practices.
• Hands on engineering delivery management experience, who will lead a large team of engineers and provide technical direction and strategy for our software development projects including large
• Strong stakeholder management capabilities
• The candidate should have experience presenting to senior stakeholder in both business and technology
• An understanding of DevOps and how to utiliz automation tools for engineering delivery including Agile ways of working
• The candidate should have people leadership capability to lead a large number of engineers to upskill them on the latest technology capabilities and deliver our tech objectives
