We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Head of Finance, Transaction Banking Asia

The Head of Finance, Transaction Banking, Asia is a key leadership role focused on business partnering, supporting and driving business performance, maintaining a common global finance operating framework, while also maintaining a strong controllership environment. Its purpose is to provide strategic direction and guidance to senior management within CIB Asia and Middle East acting as business partner to the Head of GTS, Head of GPS and Head of IB in Asia. The role will be based in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities 

  • Drive business performance, provide business finance support and guidance to the Asia Heads of GPS, GTS and IB, acting as a trusted business partner and be the principal point of contact for all finance related matters
  • Own the regional strategic planning and forecasting processes for GPS, GTS and IB 
  • Drive the development of digital initiatives and facilitate the implementation of both Finance and Business transformation initiatives 
  • Collaborate with the Global CIB Finance Product partners for cohesive end-to-end oversight across the suite of CIB products (e.g. GPS, GTS, IB, etc). 
  • Drive insightful strategic planning, business performance analysis, and planning and forecasting, thereby providing executive decision support covering all aspects of finance for CIB Asia 
  • Overseeing the stress testing process for CIB Asia including communicating timeline to markets and to products and upwards to Global 
  • Preparing backward, forward and insightful narrative to accompany OpCo meetings globally or regionally, which is action-focused 
  • Pro-actively drive improvements to the accuracy and efficiency of line of business reporting and processes across Finance functions (e.g. Operational Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, Treasury, etc). 
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the management of internal and external audit requirements together with any issues raised by external regulators 
  • Manage regional resources and leverage pooled country resources in some markets to fully support CIB Asia
  • Ensure all risks and opportunities are identified and mitigated / enacted to work strategically with the business, close to customers and investors 
  • Lead and manage the ongoing development of a high performing team; continue to embrace the team principles and ways of working 
  • In tune with macroeconomic factors, market dynamics and able to interpret impact on performance and risk/return profile 
  • Experience in resolving complex issues through leadership, influence and negotiation

  • An effective business partner capable of operating at senior levels of the organisations 
  • A strong understanding of the suite of CIB products across GTS, GPS and IB 
  • A strong understanding of client profitability metrics 
  • A good understanding of the FP&A process and the annual Financial planning exercise 
  • Experience in handling stress testing 
  • A driven, delivery orientated individual with a commercial mindset and ability to coordinate change 
  • In tune with macroeconomic factors, market dynamics and able to interpret impact on performance and risk/return profile 
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to understand complex data and make high quality, timely decisions 
  • Demonstrated team management and leadership skills 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
