We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Regulatory Development. 

Regulatory Affairs (RA), of which Regulatory Development is a subset, ensure the effective management of dealings with regulators and regulatory developments affecting the Bank. Early identification and assessment of regulatory developments and their potential impact to the bank is a key activity, ensuring that the UK maintains full oversight of all material relevant regulatory developments affecting its operations.  

“Regulatory development” for these purposes includes working across the regulatory lifecycle focussing on proposed changes in regulation, finalised new and amended regulation and other sources of regulatory intelligence such as external fines and enforcement activities relevant to the scope of the team. 

As Head of Regulatory Development, you will lead the HSBC UK Compliance Regulatory Developments Team and be an SME in respect of regulatory developments for all business lines and functions within HSBC UK.

In this role, you will: 

•    Lead the UK RFB Regulatory Development Team and support the Head of RACW HSBC UK in managing the Group’s risk in relation to UK regulatory developments relevant to the Compliance function. Ensuring the identification and oversight of material “upstream" and "downstream" regulatory developments, supporting UK Risk Stewards to address regulatory change.
•    Lead the UK RFB Regulatory Development Team to work collaboratively with the wider UK RA team, the Global RA Team and the European/Wholesale RA team to monitor, assess and support relevant stakeholders in dealing with regulatory developments affecting the Group and its activities. 
•    Supervise and oversee the activities of the Regulatory Developments Team in ensuring that all activities adhere to the controls and requirements specified by the Group Standards Manual, Global Compliance FIM and the local DIM.
•    Assist the Head of RACW HSBC UK deliver timely and quality reporting on UK regulatory developments including a summary of key risks and issues Global Business Line RA teams and to all relevant stakeholders, including Risk and Compliance management teams, HBUK management and wider Group management as required. 
•    Develop and implement regular channels of communication for the sharing of information and best practices between RA and wider Compliance team members in relation to regulatory developments. 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: 

•    Proven experience of advising on regulatory change across a wide range of different business types
•    Relevant experience in one or more senior compliance role(s) operating at a multi-business level.
•    Strong knowledge of both regulatory and financial crime compliance risks and industry good practices in managing them across jurisdictions and businesses.
•    Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
•    Excellent verbal communicator with strong inter-personal and influencing skills.
•    Experience of leading a high performing team effectively.
•    Excellent stakeholder management skills, including liaising with colleagues at all levels within the bank.

The base location for this role is Birmingham – Hybrid working
