Role Purpose  

Support the growth of the business in a simple, customer focused way.  The role holder is accountable for identifying gaps and defining solutions/ propositions which support activation of the Enterprise Talent Strategy.    

The role holder is accountable for building and managing specialist capability teams, including Future Workforce Intelligence, Sourcing, Assessment and Skills in developing the overarching frameworks within which the Enterprise Talent teams operate to support delivery.   

The role holder provides thought leadership, agile and predictive talent solutions via data driven insights, external benchmarking and best practice across capability and capacity planning, skills identification, talent acquisition, talent management, succession planning and assessment methodologies. The role holder showcases the shift from reactive to proactive planning.  

The role holder acts as the Global Service Owner (GSO) delegate for Enterprise Talent. 

Principal Accountabilities:

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Accountable for best practice and enables innovation in Enterprise Talent, while understanding & making best use of technology
  • Accountable for defining the group wide approach for talent/TA frameworks, skills strategy, talent pipelines and assessment, succession planning, aligning with strategy
  • Responsible for setting the framework to modernize succession planning, focusing both on business growth and employee needs
  • Responsible for working with the Business Aligned Enterprise Talent Heads to understand talent related challenges and risk, ensuring approaches to Enterprise Talent support the growth as well protect HSBC and its employees  
  • Accountable for setting group-wide Enterprise Talent policy and standards, taking accountability for policy execution globally acting as second line of defense
  • Accountable for defining the group wide assessment strategy, its implementation and evolution across the employee life cycle
  • Accountable for leading a team of assessment experts delivering competitive advantage through world class assessment solutions
  • Accountable for working with Business Aligned Enterprise Heads to customize solutions to address specific business requirements, acting as the Design Authority
  • Accountable for deploying collective listening practices to understand the Talent Enterprise solutions outcomes to support continue improvement by providing recommendations  
  • Accountable for ensuring Enterprise Talent professionals have the assets, capability, and tools to deliver the Enterprise Talent Solutions
  • Accountable for the Enterprise Talent technology innovation, in partnership with PGC COO
  • Accountable for the framework for the Priority Skills segment (e.g., implementation of new way of working or techniques/priority squad deployment)
  • Responsible for aligning with the service delivery model on defining the execution of solutions and continuous improvements

Future Workforce Intelligence & Strategic Sourcing

  • Create sourcing strategies informed by Future Workforce Intelligence to acquire and retain current and future talent groups, aligned to the demand plan.  To be executed across the service delivery model
  • Accountable for analyzing / identifying the global critical skills gaps and shifts (3–5-year horizon), alongside the relevant Strategic Workforce Plans, that are impacting HSBCs corporate strategy and commercial performance, to inform/target the engagement of specific demographics.  
  • Responsible for proactively partnering with Business Aligned Enterprise Talent Heads along with Employer Brand and Talent Experience to ensure the demand plans are in alignment with the market research and candidate demographics identified as part of market research
  • Responsible for leading the global sourcing capability, owning the sourcing community of practice / network of practitioners specifically those sourcing specialists within GCC and throughout the Service Delivery Model
  • Accountable for agreeing the Global Future Workforce Talent Intelligence tooling (e.g., labour marketing intelligence tooling and sourcing channel mix) and the global standards & procedures sourcing must adhere to
  • Accountable for ensuring that Talent Acquisition delivery teams across the Service Delivery Model have the assets, frameworks and playbooks they need to be able to adequately source candidates competitively, working closely with Employer Brand and Talent Experience

Customers / Stakeholders 

  • Responsible for acting as Global Service Owner (GSO) delegate for Enterprise Talent
  • Responsible for clearly communicating the Enterprise Talent Solutions offering to the Enterprise Talent function & other key stakeholders  
  • Accountable for driving the transformation agenda by proactively communicating the visions and managing stakeholder expectations over the transition
  • Work closely with the Head of People Strategy and Innovation to align solutions/propositions 
  • Supports the Business Aligned Enterprise Talent heads to provide strategic guidance, constructive challenge and technical consultancy on issues related to Enterprise Talent
  • Works in partnership with the Business Aligned Enterprise Talent Heads to ensure all talent propositions align with the business needs, delivering specific and not general outcomes
  • Accountable for ensuring priority skills squads scope and mandate align with strategy
  • Works in partnership with the Employer Brand and Candidate Experience Head to ensure alignment of solutions/propositions, insights and materials
  • In partnership with PGC COO – own the overarching governance and performance of the Enterprise Talent propositions
  • Responsible for aligning with Global Capability Centers on associated execution of Enterprise Talent Solutions

Leadership and Teamwork

  • Member of the Enterprise Talent leadership team
  • Responsible for driving a high-performance culture through leadership behaviour  
  • Accountable for leading & managing of the Enterprise Talent Solutions team, including hiring, mentoring, performance management and rewards

Operational Effectiveness and Controls 

  • Responsible for overseeing execution of the Enterprise Talent solutions, ensuring adherence to policy, standards and execution principles
  • Accountable for defining the outcome measures for Enterprise Talent Solutions, including data to demonstrate execution and business value

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM Requirements)

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

  • The jobholder will adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply. 
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators. 
Requirements

Critical Skills, Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Deep technical subject matter expertise in Talent (Acquisition and Management preferred), including external trends and developments
  • Experience of project management and coordinating delivery through others
  • Experience of working in a large global organization
  • Experience of developing and implementation talent solutions and propositions that meet business requirements and enable growth.
  • Keeps up to date with external trends to inform innovative solutions.
  • The ability to advocate the importance of Enterprise Talent propositions across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Partners with stakeholders (at all levels) to identify and define improvements and additional opportunities
  • The ability to talk about talent concepts, or facts creatively to connect with people on a human level in a compelling and memorable way
  • The ability to imagine, create and illustrate Talent Solutions that can be deployed globally to deliver strategic & commercial outcomes
  • Defines creative approaches to build strong and lasting relationships with priority customer groups and uses experience and situational judgement to respond to unique needs
  • Builds plans and budgets which identify value for revenue and opportunities for cost reduction. Draws accurate conclusions from financial information to make insightful strategic financial decisions in planning and monitoring of performance.  Be data driven.
  • Understands how the business strategy and growth agenda impacts, the workforce design and structures the workforce, and skills in line with business objectives
  • The ability to manage stakeholders, and ensure the right people are involved, all have a joint understanding of the work, what is happening, the implications and crucially their role has in making it successful
