The primary aim of the FX and Commodities IT team is to develop and support the IT systems that allow the business to be successful. Calculations and compute function sits across all product lines of the GFX, supporting a number of products (FX Cash, FX Options, Commodities) and initiatives. Risk Management is an obvious focus of the team, with direct impact to Front Office. The business also a number of requirements for functional initiatives (Intraday & EOD Calculations and Scenarios, Regulatory integration, expansion to new products and HSBC sites and many more). These initiatives are tightly aligned with our technical strategy around distributed systems, cloud migration, accessibility and expansion to multiple customers and sites. 

The team’s ethos is to enable the business to grow and continue to generate revenue by delivering robust and scalable IT systems. Reducing manual process and operational risk is also a focus. The Opportunity:

Join us to work with talents from different geographical locations in the world class Global FX Calculations team to develop, improve and maintain the bank's own solution and platform for post-trading risk and PnL calculation which plays a critical role in trader's day-to-day activity and the bank's fulfilling to regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do:

Join us to work with talents from different geographical locations in the world class Global FX Calculations team to develop, improve and maintain the bank's own solution and platform for post-trading risk and PnL calculation which plays a critical role in trader's day-to-day activity and the bank's fulfilling to regulatory requirements.

• Works with business users, downstream stakeholders and business analysts to recommend viable IT solutions to meet the requirements
• Works with project team to perform end-to-end delivery of the project, with output including requirement analysis, architecture / solution design, coding, testing (manually and automated), releasing and defect fixing with required visibility.
• Produces documentations and conducts elaborations on solutions to ensure maintainability and smooth implementation.
• Production support and incident reaction as part of the global team.
• Takes ownership of major components / projects to make sound technical decisions to delivery reasonable and cost-efficient solutions with good maintainability, and supports the team members to implement the solution with good quality.
• Creates, owns, improves and promotes standards in development best practice, such as design principles, code review, and testing / releasing process.

• 10+ years’ experience in software engineering with hands-on skills in programming in modern Java language on back-end with HTTPS, RESTful API, micro-services and MQ
• Strong knowledge and solid experience in designing technical architecture / solutions for major back-end systems with requirements in

• Good experience in working with technical delivery team under modern software engineering methodology with experience in CI/CD and cyber security
• Strong communication skills and proficient in both Mandarin and English, with strong capability of presentation, elaboration and influencing
• Strong capability in analytical thinking and problem solving; making ideas happen in reality
• A technical expert with curiosity and passion in technology, who keeps updating his/her knowledge
• Self-driven and capability of work proactively, collaboratively and efficiently with geographical dispersed teams
• Ability to deal with pressure and calmness in urgent / stressing situation

What additional skills will be good to have? 

• Experience in high-volume data processing and compute
• Experience in no-SQL or Columnar DB
• Experience in building service on cloud (especially GCP)
• Front-end development capability and experience
• Domain knowledge in banking - trade life-cycle and post trade processing for financial investment products, especially FX
